Kellee moved to Pittsburgh in her late teens with the dream of changing the world. She learned more about the negative sides of our society through study at the University of Pittsburgh and Hip Hop was solidified as her passion and outlet for activism. She also experienced watching her mother go through a near death bout with cancer and used writing as a means to cope. She began performing in 2000 and has not stopped since. However, a sense of not being able to make any real change, a lack of confidence, and need for financial security pushed her into the workforce and on the spiritual journey, which proved to be a unique opportunity to learn about what would became her inspiration as an artist.
Kellee worked in events and promotions at the Pittsburgh City Paper right after college. After her father passed away Kellee again turned to music as a way to cope. Soon after the tragedy, she started her own female owned and operated, socially conscious company, Nakturnal, in hopes of securing a better income to help her mother in the future and allow for growth in her music career. For over two years now, Nakturnal has been considered the leading guerilla marketing and events organization in the region, that works daily for independent artists, worthy causes and is expanding nationally. While Nakturnal was growing, Kellee found more time to record and perform, and released her first album, Age of Feminine. She is currently working on her second release which highlights her mystical side. She is also launching a website that will act as an artistic statement with the help of a huge female team made up of Nakturnal and other talented Pittsburgh based women.
A deeply spiritual person striving to enjoy and appreciate the present, Kellee now sees activism on a energetic level that starts within. She studies the power of intention, meditation, quantum physics, astrology, tarot and other forms of mysticism. She feels her purpose in life is to make music that sends out good energy and makes people think. She believes massive global change is coming and that it starts with the individual. She asserts that our inner world is a mirror of our outer reality and that we have the power to help positively affect the world by "being the change we wish to see", as Ghandi puts it. She believes we are entering a new stage of evolution in human consciousness and hopes that her music inspires change and awareness in the listener. She believes music and art hold the key to the revolution we need and that we can enjoy this moment while opening hearts and minds.
Tree Of Life

[Chorus 2x]
If we do these things, when the tree is green
Oh please, what will happen when it dies
I create and know somewhere deep in thee
Unseen is the key that will open up all eyes
[Verse 1]
Subconscious calling on our hoping, hidden underneath all the mopping
Sobbing screaming at our ignorance
Our assumption this is really bliss
I have seen the fall of Babylon, in my minds eye
I make it all gone
Deeply cresting, sunken to my knees
The signals come from Pleiades
Drunk in snow and hidden fees
I will not sing your songs for free
Unsung, unwon, wonderin’ we all come from, undone
Won’t someone tell um
We are all the angels that gone come
[Chorus 2x]
If we do these things, when the tree is green
Oh please, what will happen when it dies
I create and know somewhere deep in thee
Unseen is the key that will open up all eyes
EYES AHHhhhhh
Deep in the unseen
Deep in the unseen
[Verse 2]
Beyond the thunderdome
Please don’t let him take our thrown
Our time has come, and we are truly the ones
While the greed leaks from our pores
All the darkness seeks to be mores
Know that we all have something important
To offer up and help all the morphin
Because the caterpillar thinks it's dead
His head soon to be buried with nothing else to dread
No longer worried
That this game has just begun
Noone has won, no mate to check
More than one son and daughter
Followin’ the medicine of the Otter
Woman’s healing wisdom
Sensibility without suspicion
Guidance, in revealing one’s talents
We can all be very balanced
We already are
Psychically in tune to thee
We are
In tune to the stars
Stars
[Bridge 5x] (ahhh)
We are already
Psychically
Intune to thee
Stars
[Chorus 2x]
If we do these things, when the tree is green
Oh please, what will happen when it dies
I create and know somewhere deep in thee
Unseen is the key that will open up all eyes
If we do these things [2x]
(Ahhhh)
[Bridge]
We are already psychically in tune to thee
We are already psychically in tune to thee stars
We are already psychically in tune to thee
We are already psychically in tune to thee stars
[Chorus 1x]
If we do these things, when the tree is green
Oh please, what will happen when it dies
I create and know somewhere deep in thee
Unseen is the key that will open up all eyes
The lyrics of Kellee Maize's song "Tree of Life" explore the concept of awakening to our true potential and the interconnectedness of all things. The chorus speaks to the importance of taking action while the opportunity is available ("if we do these things, when the tree is green"), as there may be consequences if we don't ("what will happen when it dies"). The singer acknowledges that there is a hidden key to unlocking greater understanding and awareness ("unseen is the key that will open up all eyes") and implies that it is located within the depths of the self ("I create and know somewhere deep in thee").
The first verse suggests that we may be blinded by our own assumptions and the chaos of the world ("our assumption this is really bliss") and that a deeper level of consciousness is required to truly see what's happening. The singer claims to have had a vision of the fall of Babylon, which may symbolize the collapse of old systems and structures that no longer serve us. It is only by letting go and surrendering to something new that we can move forward ("I make it all gone"). The signals from Pleiades may refer to extraterrestrial or spiritual guidance that is available to us if we are open to it.
The second verse speaks to the idea that we are all here for a reason and that we need to find our own unique path ("we all have something important to offer up and help all the morphin"). The caterpillar metaphor suggests that transformation is possible, even when it seems like all hope is lost. The medicine of the otter and the healing wisdom of women are mentioned as sources of guidance and balance. The final bridge reinforces the idea that we are already connected to the greater universe and that we have the power to access higher levels of consciousness ("psychically in tune to thee stars").
