Boothe seemed, at the time, to have the makings of an international, long-lasting, hit maker, certainly when compared to most of the other latter-day reggae acts. His smoother style gave him a wider appeal, rather like UB40 and Aswad. Boothe's choice of songs also showed the breadth of his musical taste. But for all that, he only managed one more hit in the UK Chart, "Crying over You", which made Number 11.
In more recent times, Boothe has also recorded for Bunny Lee, Phil Pratt, King Jammy, Pete Weston, Jack Ruby, Hugh "Red Man" James, Castro Brown, and Tappa Zukie. Plus in 1995, he teamed up with Shaggy, for a new styled version of his old track, "The Train Is Coming", which appeared on the soundtrack of the film, Money Train.
A double-disc overview of Boothe's Trojan years, Crying over You, was released by the label in 2001.

Have I Sinned
Ken Boothe Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Have I told a lie?
What did I do
To make you cry?
Somebody, help me
To get back home again
Give me one more chance
To renew our romance
This love that binds me
Tighter than chains
Will always be a memory
In my heart
We live in a world
That knows no shame
That's why our love
Will not be in vain
Baby, tell me, tell me
Have I sinned?
Was I to blame?
If I tried
Could things be the same?
Please, say the word
That you will forgive
For without your love
I don't want to live
This love that binds me
Tighter than chains
Will always be a memory
In my heart
We live in a world
That knows no shame
That's why our love
Will not be in vain
Baby, tell me, tell me
Have I sinned?
Was I to blame?
If I tried
Could things be the same?
Please, say the word
That you will forgive
For without your love
I don't want to live
In Ken Boothe's song "Have I Sinned," the lyrics express the singer's remorse for causing his lover to cry and wonder if his actions have caused him to sin. The song speaks of his desire to renew their romance and to be forgiven for whatever it was that he did wrong. The love that he shared with his partner is referred to as a memory that will always be in his heart, even if they are no longer together. The lyrics also touch on the concept of shame and how it is prevalent in the world, although the love that the singer shared will not be in vain.
The song starts with a series of questions, asking whether the singer has sinned or lied and what could have caused his lover to cry. He is seeking redemption and asks for help to get back home and one more chance to renew their romance. The lyrics paint a picture of regret and remorse for causing pain to someone he loves.
The chorus emphasizes the depth of the love he feels, as it binds him tighter than chains, and how it will always be a memory that he holds dear. Despite living in a world that knows no shame, the love shared by the singer and his partner will not be in vain. The relentlessness of his love is reflected in the repetition of the questions asked in the chorus, which seek to understand if he was to blame and if things could go back to how they were.
Overall, the song is an emotional confession of someone who is hurting and seeking forgiveness for whatever wrong they may have committed. The lyrics resonate with anyone who has loved and lost and serves as a reminder that love is not easy and can come with a lot of pain.
