Boothe seemed, at the time, to have the makings of an international, long-lasting, hit maker, certainly when compared to most of the other latter-day reggae acts. His smoother style gave him a wider appeal, rather like UB40 and Aswad. Boothe's choice of songs also showed the breadth of his musical taste. But for all that, he only managed one more hit in the UK Chart, "Crying over You", which made Number 11.
In more recent times, Boothe has also recorded for Bunny Lee, Phil Pratt, King Jammy, Pete Weston, Jack Ruby, Hugh "Red Man" James, Castro Brown, and Tappa Zukie. Plus in 1995, he teamed up with Shaggy, for a new styled version of his old track, "The Train Is Coming", which appeared on the soundtrack of the film, Money Train.
A double-disc overview of Boothe's Trojan years, Crying over You, was released by the label in 2001.

I Don't Want To See You Cry
Ken Boothe Lyrics

But, baby, not to stay
It won't be too long, girl
I'll be coming home to you again
Hey, I'm gonna tell you goodbye, babe
But I don't want to see you cry, babe
I'm gonna leaving you behind, girl
But it's just for a time
Don't worry about me when I am gone
Just carry yourself 'til I return
I'm going to a faraway land
I'm going to make life for you and me, please understand
Don't worry about me, baby
I'll be coming home soon
I know that things will be better
Ooh yeah
I'm gonna tell you goodbye, babe
But I don't want to see you cry, babe
I'm gonna leaving you behind, girl
But it's just for a time
It's not my wish that we must part
Don't worry, baby, I won't break your heart
Don't fret yourself, don't pine too much
I'll soon be back with that magic touch
Hush
Here me callin' out louder
Baby, I'll be coming home
And I know that things will be better
Please, don't worry about me when I am gone
Just carry yourself 'til I return
I'm going to a faraway land
I'm going to make life for you and me, please understand
And
Coming home, I'm coming home
Don't you worry, I'll be coming home
Don't you worry, don't you fret yourself
I'll be coming home
Baby, baby, don't you know
You're mine
Good God, please, please believe me
I'll be home soon
Don't worry, baby
Please, please understand me
Don't worry, baby
Don't you worry
Don't you fret yourself
I'll give you the best, yeah
In "I Don't Want to See You Cry," Ken Boothe sings to his lover that he is going away for a while, but he will come back to her soon, and he does not want to see her cry. He acknowledges that leaving is not his desire, but it is for their betterment in the long run. He urges her not to worry or pine too much while he is gone but to carry on, and he promises he will be back with his magic touch to give her the best.
This song is a classic reggae heartbreak ballad that conveys a message of reassurance and hope in a difficult time for Ken Boothe's lover. It is a reminder that, even in moments of separation, the love between the two partners remains strong, and they will eventually reunite. The lyrics are poetic and poignant, and the melody is catchy, making it a favorite tune among reggae enthusiasts.
