I was out of excuses
But I was not
Above re-learning all the rules
Yeah, I found out the hard way
(There) ain't no color to the blues
(Now) you can have
All the oil out in Arabia
All the French girls out of France
It won't alter the basic equation
Ain't gonna change the circumstance
Love, love, love,love, love
Love is what you want
Love, love, love, love, love
Until you've got it
You never will be satisfied
You're gonna chase the rainbow blind...
If I'm wrong
It ain't gonna hurt anybody
But if I'm not (wrong)
Nothin's ever gonna change.
Till we quit with all this messin' (round)
And let love win the day
Love, love, love, love, love
Love is what you want
Love, love, love, love, love
Until you've go it
You never will be satisfied
You're gonna chase the rainbow blind.
The lyrics of the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band's song "Chase the Rainbow" speaks about how love is the ultimate goal in life, and that no amount of material possessions or achievements can ever replace it. The first verse talks about the singer being caught and having no excuses. He or she has to re-learn the rules and finds out the hard way that there is no color to the blues. This could mean that no matter what happens in life or how rich someone is, sadness and heartache will inevitably occur.
The second verse talks about how having oil from Arabia or French girls out of France won't change the basic equation of life. Love is what everyone wants, and until someone has it, they will never be satisfied. Going after material possessions blindly will result in chasing rainbows forever. The chorus repeats this sentiment, emphasizing that love is the ultimate goal and without it, people will be chasing something unattainable. The final verse talks about how if people don't stop "messin'" around and let love win the day, nothing will ever change. It's time to let love guide the way.
Overall, the lyrics of "Chase the Rainbow" speaks about how love is the ultimate goal in life and material possessions won't bring happiness. It's a call to focus on what really matters and let love guide the way.
