Fowler put together a country band in 1998 and began playing Tuesday nights at Babe's on Sixth Street in Austin. Within two years, he'd begun recording albums and struck big with his self-released Beer, Bait and Ammo (2000). The album sold around 30,000 copies in the Texas area and garnered an impressive amount of airplay, particularly for the album's title track. The song became somewhat of a Texas anthem; Mark Chesnutt made the song part of his live show, and Sammy Kershaw recorded it. Fowler returned in 2002 with his third album, High on the Hog, and boasted some impressive guests, including Willie Nelson and David Lee Garza.

Oh, down beside that red fire light
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round
I was just a skinny lad
Never knew no good from bad
I knew life before I left my nursery
She was such a naughty nanny
Big woman, you made a bad boy out of me
C'mon!
Are you gonna take me home tonight
Oh, down beside that red fire light
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round
I've been singing with my band
Across the wire, across the land
I've seen every blue eyed floozy along the way
But their beauty and their style
Went kind of smooth after awhile
Take me to them naughty ladies every time
Are you gonna take me home tonight
Oh, down beside that red fire light
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round
Get on your backs and ride, now
Hey, listen here!
I've got mortgages on homes
I've got stiffness in my bones
Ain't no beauty queens in this locality
But I still got my pleasure
Still got my greatest treasure
Heap big woman, you made a big man out of me
C'mon!
Are you gonna take me home tonight
Oh, down beside that red fire light
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round
Yeah, fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round
Are you gonna take me home tonight
Oh, down beside that red fire light
Are you gonna let it all hang out
Fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round
Kevin Fowler's song "Fat Bottomed Girls" is an expression of appreciation for fuller-figured women. The lyrics discuss the singer's romantic interest in a woman with a "fat bottom", and suggest that these women are essential to making the "rocking world go 'round." The singer mentions his experiences with various other women, but ultimately expresses a greater interest in those with more curves.
The first verse begins with the singer asking if his partner will take him home "down beside that red fire light" and let it all "hang out." The chorus echoes the sentiment that "fat bottomed girls make the rocking world go 'round." The second verse describes the singer's history, noting that he was a "skinny lad" who was raised by a "naughty nanny" who was more full-bodied. The bridge of the song also recognizes that the singer has seen many women while touring with his band, but that he always comes back to the "naughty ladies" with more curves.
While some might view the song as objectifying, others might suggest that it is simply celebrating the beauty of fuller-figured women. The message of the song is ultimately up to interpretation, but either way, it's a catchy tune that pays homage to a certain group of women.
