Hypnotized by the big city life
She came looking for a piece of action
All She got was the big city life
She tried to convince herself
This was leading somewhere
Just like on the last day of school
They were gone by the time she got there
She's like "Wooooah" I finally found my place
And I'm like "Wooooah" this girl can't keep them boys away
And she say's "Nooo", see I used to have dreams
But I cashed in something long ago, that I can't redeem
Once you are, just another cut away
Now your scarred, and these scars won't fade
I still know, you don't get something for nothing
Without giving up your soul
She got the get it look
With the drink in her hand
And she feels like no one
She tries to put the past behind her
But she still owes him
If I ever get out of this place, things will be different
She still hides at the bottom of the bottle
And cries when she looks in the mirror
She's like "Wooooh" am I looking at myself
And I'm like "Wooooah" I don't see nobody else
And she say's "Nooo", that's the price I paid
And it'll cost me my life just to get out of the game
Once you are, just another cut away
Now your scarred, and these scars won't fade
I still know, you don't get something for nothing
Without giving up your soul
Once you are, just another cut away
Now your scarred, and these scars won't fade
I still know, you don't get something for nothing
Without giving up your soul [Repeat 2X]
The lyrics to Kevin Rudolf's song Scarred depict the story of a girl who comes from a small town and is drawn to the allure of big city life. She is seeking excitement and adventure but is ultimately disillusioned by what she finds. She tries to convince herself that her experiences are leading somewhere, but she is ultimately left scarred by the events that unfold. The song seems to suggest that she has sacrificed her dreams and her soul in order to fit in with the party lifestyle of the city.
Throughout the song, we see the girl trying to put on a brave face and trying to convince herself that everything is okay, but her scars from the past continue to haunt her. She drinks to try and forget her troubles, but they only compound with each sip. The line "And cries when she looks in the mirror" is particularly poignant as it shows the despair that she feels at not recognizing the person that she has become. The chorus of the song is particularly haunting and seems to emphasize the message that the only way to achieve success in the city is by giving up a part of yourself.
Overall, the song Scarred is a powerful commentary on the pressures that young people face when they move to the city. The song's message is that it is easy to fall into a trap of partying and sacrificing your dreams in exchange for a moment of pleasure. However, this lifestyle ultimately leads to scars that are difficult to heal.
