2) The Kickback is an American indie rock band originally started in Vermillion, South Dakota by singer/songwriter Billy Yost. The band is now based in Chicago, Illinois and includes guitarist Jonny Ifergan and bassist Daniel Leu. The band's latest LP Weddings & Funerals was produced by Grammy winner Dennis Herring (Modest Mouse, Elvis Costello, Ben Folds, Wavves) and their song "False Jeopardy" was featured in the Lily Collins/Keanu Reeves film 'To the Bone'. They're ALSO famous for their hateful shows, full of anger and blood, but it's—you know—inward-looking and un-French.

Triumph
Kickback Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I walk the path of the resurected
My destiny unfolds
My fate is marked
Animal senses keen and alert
What i do to myself, you'll never
Understand
Arisen from the ashes, I'm set out
In this sick dying world, you get what
You deserve
Il all began in my dreams
Something you'll never know
Time is running out for me
My ennemies surrounds
Burning all my bridges
I knew it from the start
In Kickback's song Triumph, the lyrics depict a theme of rebirth and transformation. The first line, "Arisen from the ashes", suggests that the singer has gone through a significant change or transformation. They go on to state that they are walking the path of the "resurrected", meaning that they have been granted a new chance at life. The lyrics mention that the singer's "fate is marked" and that they have sharp animal senses, suggesting that they have become more aware and vigilant after their transformation.
The singer also mentions that what they've done to themselves is something that others will never understand. This could mean that the singer has gone through a personal struggle or experience that has brought them to this point, but others cannot comprehend what they have gone through. The lyrics also explore the idea that in this "sick dying world", people get what they deserve. The singer seems to have distanced themselves from the world and is now "set out on [their] own."
The lyrics go on to suggest that this transformation began in the singer's dreams, something that others cannot know. Time is also running out for the singer and their enemies are surrounding them. The lyrics end with the line "burning all my bridges, I knew it from the start." This suggests that the singer has made a definitive choice and is cutting ties with their past in order to move forward.
Overall, the lyrics in Triumph suggest a personal journey of transformation and growth. The singer has faced their past and is moving forward in a new direction, leaving behind their old life.
