Kid Cudi Lyrics

I tried to tell all my friends when I was a kid that I had powers
And nobody wanted to believe me
Alright
Spent the last month feeling bad 'bout myself
I couldn't speak anything of real hope
A sudden change in my groove, in my walk
I got my lion heart and electric flowing through my brain
Shocking waves make me feel I can float
It's like the city is mine and the dark is my cave
I can't explain this sudden peace in my walk, I sure hope
I'm living my life as if I got powers
And tonight I feel immortal
I said tonight I feel immortal
Tonight I feel immortal
Bet you want to see me weak
Not sort of my thing you see
I'm too damn cool, my mojo too dope
It's the same old thing getting lost Day N' Nite, young and lost in the pain
So many times I've broke this vicious cycle
I got my lion heart and electric flowing through my brain
Shocking waves make me feel I can float
Surely I'mma do what I want, ain't got no one to blame
I can't explain this sudden peace in my walk, I sure hope
I'm living my life as if I got powers
And tonight I feel immortal
I said tonight I feel immortal
Tonight I feel immortal
I'm living my life as if I got powers
And tonight I feel immortal
I said tonight I feel immortal
Tonight I feel immortal
The first two lines, "I am the smartest man alive! I tried to tell all my friends when I was a kid that I had powers," are a common theme in Kid Cudi's music: feeling isolated and misunderstood. The line "I am the smartest man alive!" is a sarcastic expression of his view that he is not understood by society, and that his unique perspective is not valued. He then goes on to express his belief that he has powers, which is likely a metaphor for his creative talents and unique perspective on life. This is something he believes in as a child but no one believes him.
The next verse, "Spent the last month feeling bad 'bout myself / I couldn't speak anything of real hope," portrays a feeling of hopelessness and depression, possibly caused by feeling isolated and unappreciated. However, he experiences a sudden realization that he has power in his music, as the line "A sudden change in my groove, in my walk" suggests. This realization ignites a newfound confidence in himself that makes him feel like he can do anything, as the line “I got my lion heart and electric flowing through my brain / Shocking waves make me feel I can float” illustrates.
The chorus, "I'm living my life as if I got powers / And tonight I feel immortal / I said tonight I feel immortal / Tonight I feel immortal," portrays Kid Cudi feeling invincible, like he can do anything he wants because he has found his purpose and feels have full control over his creativity.
Overall, the song is about Kid Cudi's journey to self-discovery and finding a sense of self-worth through his music. This song is an anthem of empowerment and resilience.
