Love, hate, play this game of give and take
Won't stay, we all make mistakes
I'll say, what a wonderful escape
I erase
Hey, hey, hey
Things get crazy and I feel I'm losing my mind
I'm going insane and I really don't know why
There's only one thing to do
I'm floating through the night on a red eye, red eye
(Through the night on a red eye, red eye)
I'm floating through the night on a red eye, red eye
(Through the night on a red eye, red eye)
Things get crazy and I feel I'm losing my mind
I don't know what to do
I'm going insane and I really don't know why
There's only one thing to do
I'm floating through the night on a red eye, red eye
(Through the night on a red eye, red eye)
I'm floating through the night on a red eye, red eye
(Through the night on a red eye, red eye)
I can't understand, I don't understand it
The visions in my head
I just can't make sense of it
I can't understand, I don't understand it
The visions in my head
I just can't make sense of it
'Cause I can never run
I can never run, I can never run
There's no use for it baby
I can never run
I can never run, I can never run
I'm so used to you baby
I can never run, I can never run
I can never run
There's no use for it baby
I can never run

Kid Cudi's song "Red Eye" is a reflection on the turbulence of life and the power of music to provide an escape from stress and anxiety. The lyrics describe the feeling of being lost and overwhelmed by the world, not knowing how to cope, and turning to music as a way to escape. Love and hate are portrayed as two sides of the same coin, with both being part of the game of life, which involves give and take. Making mistakes is seen as a natural part of being human, and the song suggests that it's possible to escape from the pressures of life by erasing negative thoughts and focusing on the positive.
The chorus of the song ("I'm floating through the night on a red eye, red eye, through the night on a red eye, red eye...") is a metaphor for the power of music to transport us to a different place and time, to help us forget our troubles and focus on the moment. The red eye is also a reference to a late-night flight, suggesting that music can serve as a journey to another world, another reality.
The line "I can never run, there's no use for it baby, I'm so used to you" suggests that the singer may be trying to escape from a relationship that has become toxic or unfulfilling, but cannot bring themselves to admit it or leave. The visions in their head are overwhelming, and they feel they cannot make sense of them.
Overall, "Red Eye" is a song about the transformative power of music, and the way it can serve as a lifeline for those struggling with the pressures of everyday life.
