Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.
Break Your Heart
Kidz Bop Lyrics

It runs real deep and leaves a scar
Things fall apart, but nothing breaks like a heart
And nothing breaks like a heart
I heard you on the phone last night
We live and die by pretty lies
You know it, oh, we both know it
This burning house, there's nothing left
You know it, we both know it
We got all night to fall in love
But just like that we fall apart
We're broken, we're broken
Mmm, well nothing, nothing, nothing gon' save us now
Well, there's broken silence
By thunder crashing in the dark (crash in the dark)
And this broken record
Spin endless circles where you are (spin 'round where you are)
This world can hurt you
It runs real deep and leaves a scar
Things fall apart, but nothing breaks like a heart
Mhmm, and nothing breaks like a heart
We'll leave each other cold as ice
And high and dry, the desert wind
Is blowin', is blowin'
Remember what you said to me?
We were dumb and love in Tennessee
And I hold it, we both know it
Mmm, nothing, nothing, nothing gon' save us now
Nothing, nothing, nothing gon' save us now
Well, there's broken silence
By thunder crashing in the dark (crash in the dark)
And this broken record
Spin endless circles where you are (spin 'round where you are)
This world can hurt you
It runs real deep and leaves a scar
Things fall apart, but nothing breaks like a heart
Mhmm, and nothing breaks like a heart
(My heart, my heart)
Nothing, nothing, nothing gon' save us now
(My heart, my heart)
Nothing, nothing, nothing gon' save us now
Well, there's broken silence
By thunder crashing in the dark (crash in the dark)
And this broken record
Spin endless circles where you are (spin 'round where you are)
This world can hurt you
It runs real deep and leaves a scar
Things fall apart, but nothing breaks like a heart
Mhmm, but nothing breaks like a heart
But nothing breaks like a heart
Mhmm, but nothing breaks like a heart
The lyrics of Kidz Bop's "Break Your Heart" is a story about a relationship that falls apart in a way that leaves both parties broken-hearted. The lyrics say that the world can hurt you real deep and leave a scar, but nothing is as painful as a broken heart. The verse talks about the lies that people tell each other to protect themselves from the truth, but those lies only result in regrets. The metaphor of a burning house with nothing left is used to describe the relationship that has completely fallen apart.
The chorus repeats the idea of things falling apart, but nothing breaks like a heart. The bridge mentions that they will leave each other cold as ice and high and dry. The reference to the desert wind blowing represents how empty and lonely the relationship has become. The verse ends with a reference to a past memory where they were happy together but now hold onto it as they both know it's a thing of the past.
Overall, the lyrics of the song convey the idea of how relationships can end up hurting someone deeply and leave a scar on their heart that never truly heals. It shows how lies and broken promises can lead to regrets and nothingness. It's a reminder that things may fall apart, but a broken heart is a pain that is hard to shake off.
