Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.

We put your hand in mine and love the afterthought now
Now I'm a ghost, I call your name, you look right through me
You're the reason I just can't concentrate
I, I've been trying to fix my pride
But that thing is broken, that thing is broken
Lie (lie, lie), lie, l-lie, I try to hide
That I'm at an all time
(Low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low)
I was the prototype like 3 Stacks on that CD
An example of the perfect candidate
Now all your girlfriends say that you don't want to see me
You're the reason that I just can't concentrate
I, (I, I) I've been trying to fix my pride
But that thing is broken, that thing is broken
Lie (lie, lie), lie, l-lie, I try to hide
But now you know it
That I'm at an all time
(Low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low)
I, I, I, I've been trying to fix my pride
But that thing is broken, that thing is broken
Lie (lie, lie), lie, l-lie, I try to hide
But now you know it
That I'm at an all time
(Low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low)
Lie, l-lie, I try to hide But now you know it
That I'm at an all time
Hey
(Low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low, low)
The lyrics to "The Time" express the singer's feelings of heartbreak and longing for a lost love. They begin with referencing a past relationship where they were the "knight in shining armor" but their love is now an afterthought. The singer confesses that they feel like a ghost to their former partner, as they call out their name but are met with indifference. They admit that this person is the reason they can't concentrate and that they are struggling to fix their broken pride. The chorus repeats that the singer is at an all-time low.
Throughout the song, the singer expresses feelings of regret and disappointment towards themselves and their former partner. The use of the lyrics "that thing is broken, that thing is broken" suggests that the singer thinks something is fundamentally wrong with them that prevents them from being able to mend their relationship. The repetition of the line "low, low, low" emphasizes the depth of their despair.
Overall, the lyrics of "The Time" convey the complex emotions that come with the end of a relationship. It highlights the pain and difficulty that comes with trying to move on and fix oneself after suffering heartbreak.
