Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.
You Found Me
Kidz Bop Lyrics

Where the West was all but won
All alone, smoking his last cigarette
I said, "Where you been?" He said, "Ask anything"
Where were you when everything was falling apart?
All my days were spent by the telephone that never rang
And all I needed was a call that never came
Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me
But in the end everyone ends up alone
Losing her, the only one who's ever known
Who I am, who I'm not and who I wanna be
No way to know how long she will be next to me
Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me!
The early morning, the city breaks
And I've been calling for years and years and years and years
And you never left me no messages
You never sent me no letters
You got some kind of nerve taking all I want!
Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, where were you? Where were you?
Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor surrounded, surrounded
Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me!
Why'd you have to wait to find me, to find me?
The lyrics of You Found Me by Kidz Bop speak about a person who has been feeling lost and alone, waiting for someone to come to their rescue. The song opens with the singer finding God on the street corner, and the lyrics later go on to picturize the singer's feelings of disappointment and abandonment. The lines "Where were you when everything was falling apart? All my days were spent by the telephone that never rang" depict the sense of despair the singer feels, while the lyric "Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me" indicates that someone has finally come to their aid.
Further, the lyrics speak of the singer's feelings towards someone they have lost, possibly a loved one. The lines "But in the end, everyone ends up alone, losing her, the only one who's ever known who I am, who I'm not and who I wanna be, no way to know how long she will be next to me" express the sense of preciousness of the relationship they had with this person.
Towards the end, the lyrics question why the person who eventually came to the singer's aid had to wait so long, with "Why'd you have to wait to find me, to find me?"
Overall, the song speaks of the need for human connection and how the feeling of being alone can be crushing. While religion is mentioned in the song, the themes are universal and can be applied by anyone regardless of beliefs.
