Eleven Kidz Bop albums have been released to date. Each album features different pop music songs, played with music similar to the original, and with the "Kidz Bop Kids" singing instead of the original artist. Albums are typically released within a few months of each other and thus the songs included tend to be the hit songs of the current time, including such songs such as "Float On" (Modest Mouse), "This Love" (Maroon 5), and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" (Green Day).
Although the albums are marketed as being "sanitized" versions of popular songs for children, many of the songs featured on the Kidz Bop albums still contain explicit sexual material, such as Rob Thomas's "Lonely No More," which some people consider inappropriate for younger audiences. Other featured songs, such as "Boulevard of Broken Dreams", contain profanity. Although the albums censor the actual word from the song, the context of the profanity remains. They also covered Green Day's hit "Wake Me Up When September Ends", which is about death.
The Kidz Bop video for their cover of Avril Lavigne's "Sk8r Boi", for instance, features the song being sung by a pre-teen girl in heavy make-up, fishnet stockings, and a Sex Pistols t-shirt.

Stood a girl that looked like you
I guess that's deja vu
But I thought this can't be true
'Cause you moved to west L.A or New York or Santa Fe
Or where ever to get away from me
Oh but that one night
I didn't leave you cause I was all through
Oh I was overwhelmed and frankly scared as hell
Because I really fell for you
Oh I swear to ya, I'll be there for ya
This is not a drive by
Just a shy guy looking for a two ply
Hefty bag to hold my love
When you move me everything is groovy
They don't like it sue me, mm way you do me
Oh I swear to you, I'll be there for you
This is not a drive by
On the other side of a downward spiral
My love for you went viral
And I loved you every mile you drove away
But now here you are again
So let's skip the "how you been"
And get down to the "more than friends" at last
Oh but that one night
Is still the highlight
I didn't need you until I came to
And I was overwhelmed and frankly scared as hell
Because I really fell for you
Oh I swear to you, I'll be there for you
This is not a drive by
Just a shy guy looking for a two ply
Hefty bag to hold my love
When you move me everything is groovy
They don't like it sue me, mm way you do me
Oh I swear to ya, I'll be there for ya
This is not a drive by
Please believe that when I leave
There's nothing up my sleeve but love for you
And a little time to get my head together too
On the other side of a street I knew
Stood a girl that looked like you
I guess that's deja vu
But I thought this can't be true, 'cause
Oh I swear to you, I'll be there for you
This is not a drive by
Just a shy guy looking for a two ply
Hefty bag to hold my love
When you move me everything is groovy
They don't like it sue me, mm way you do me
Oh I swear to ya, I'll be there for ya
This is not a drive by
The song "Drive By" by Kidz Bop is about a man who sees a girl that resembles someone he used to know. He reminisces about their past relationship, and how he fell for her. Although she moved away, he still loves her, and is willing to be there for her. The song explores themes of love, heartbreak, and the importance of being there for someone you care about.
The lyrics "On the other side of a street I knew, Stood a girl that looked like you, I guess that's deja vu" suggest that the man is experiencing a sense of familiarity or déjà vu when he sees the girl. He then goes on to mention the night they spent together, and how his feelings for her grew. The line "I didn't need you until I came to, And I was overwhelmed and frankly scared as hell" suggests that he was initially hesitant to express his feelings for her, but eventually fell for her completely.
The chorus, "Oh I swear to you, I'll be there for you, This is not a drive by, Just a shy guy looking for a two ply, Hefty bag to hold my love, When you move me everything is groovy" emphasizes the man's commitment to being there for her, and his desire to hold onto his love for her. The song ends on a hopeful note with the line, "Please believe that when I leave, There's nothing up my sleeve but love for you, And a little time to get my head together too."
