Dirty Love
Kilians Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

All those words are palling in my head,
And oh, I’d rather be anywhere else, instead.
But oh, I figure out, there is no doubt
That you’ll come back to me.
We could work it out, take it to the next round.

But I feel sold, dirty love,
And I was told that it’s not enough,
It’s not enough.

All those times you ran away from me,
Oh, I rather see you hanging around with me.
But oh, I figure out, there is no doubt,
You give me all I need,
We could work it out and take it to the next round.

But I feel sold, dirty love,
And I was told that it’s not enough,
And the streets I roam they gladly love
I feel old and I’m tired to try,
I’m tired to try.
So tired to try.

I feel sold, I was told it’s not enough.

And I feel sold, dirty love,
And I was told that it’s not enough

And the streets I roam, they got me hope
I feel old and I’m tired to try.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Dirty Love" by Kilians express the mixed emotions of the singer towards their romantic partner. The first verse talks about how the singer is overwhelmed by the words and thoughts that keep running in their head. They express their desire to be somewhere else instead of being stuck in this situation. However, they come to realize that no matter what, their beloved will always come back to them. They suggest that they can work around their problems together and overcome them as a team.

The chorus "But I feel sold, dirty love, And I was told that it’s not enough" suggests that the singer is aware that their love is not ideal as it is tainted with negative feelings. They were warned about getting involved with this person or that their love is not adequate, but they went ahead anyway. They feel a sense of dissatisfaction and restlessness in their relationship, but they cannot seem to let go of it.

The second verse talks about how their partner previously ran away from them, and the singer would have preferred it if they had remained by their side. They acknowledge that their partner is essential to them and meets all their needs. The last bit of the song talks about how the singer feels old and tired of trying to make the relationship work. They've been roaming the streets to clear their head, but nothing seems to be working.
