Am I Wrong
Kina Grannis Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Am I wrong for thinking out the box from where I stay?
Am I wrong for saying that I choose another way?
I′m not trying to do what everybody else doing
Just cause everybody's doing what they all do
If one thing I know, I′ll fall but I'll grow
I'm walking down this road of mine, this road that I call home

So am I wrong?
For thinking we could be something for real?
Now am I wrong?
For trying to reach the things that I can′t see?
But that′s just how I feel
That's just how I feel
That′s just how I feel
Trying to reach the things that I can't see

Am I tripping?
For having a vision?
My prediction, I′ma be on the top of the world
Walk your walk and don't look back, always do what you decide
Don′t let them control your life
Fight for yours and don't let go, don't let them compare you, no
Don′t worry, you′re not alone

Am I wrong?
For thinking that we could be something for real? (Oh)
Now am I wrong?
For trying to reach the things that I can't see?
That′s just how I feel
That's just how I feel
That′s just how I feel
Trying to reach the things that I can't see

Ah, ah
No, ooh

Overall Meaning

In Kina Grannis's song "Am I Wrong," the lyrics speak to the doubts and fears of someone who is trying to do something different with their life. The first verse questions if she is wrong for having a different perspective and taking an alternative route, while also acknowledging that her decision is not based on blindly following what everyone else is doing. She recognizes that there may be obstacles in her path, but she is willing to learn and grow as she continues on this journey that she calls home.

The chorus repeats the question of whether she is wrong in trying to achieve something real and reaching for things that are not yet visible. She acknowledges that this may seem like a grand vision, but it is how she truly feels. The second verse reinforces this idea that having a vision is not a negative thing and expresses her prediction that she will reach the top of the world. She encourages others to also live out their dreams and not be swayed by others' expectations or judgments as they fight for what they want.

Overall, this song is an encouraging reminder to pursue one's own dreams and not be held back by doubts or external pressures. It recognizes that there may be challenges along the way, but ultimately, one can grow and learn from those experiences.

Does anybody else think it's completely ridiculous that she can sound like an actual angel literally all the time?!

Not only is this cover completely amazing but I'v always loved the way you play the guitar. I don't know how to explain it but everyone plays and navigates between strings a little differently and the way you do it looks (and sounds) so effortless and beautiful. My description probably sucked but I don't know how else to put that into words. XD
