Since the band's inception, there have been over fifteen musicians in and out of King Diamond, with the only two mainstays being vocalist King Diamond and guitarist Andy LaRocque. In 1987 the band released their second studio release Abigail (their first concept album). Throughout the 1980s, King Diamond released a total of four studio albums. In the early 1990s, the band was put on hold when King Diamond reunited with his former outfit Mercyful Fate. After reforming King Diamond in 1994, Diamond would balance recording and touring with both Mercyful Fate and his eponymous band throughout the 90's. Since the early 2000s, King Diamond have kept recording and touring and, since 2014, the band has been composed of vocalist King Diamond, guitarist Andy LaRocque, guitarist Mike Wead, drummer Matt Thompson, and bassist Pontus Egberg.
Six Feet Under

What a nice CONSPIRACY, what a nice surprise
But now it's all too late
I am six feet under, It's so very hard to breath
My family, they put me here in a coffin made of glass
So I can see them in their glory or they can see me in my misery
They're standing all around my grave
Six feet under, It's so very hard to breath
Six feet under, I'm in a coffin made of glass
Six feet under, It's so very hard to breath
My hands are turning blue
While my nails are turning to Red
Looking up into faces of greed
I'm sweating cold and white with fear
Sinister smiles upon their lips
One of them is waving me goodbye
I am six feet under, It's so very hard to breath
My lovely sister is laughing at me, I cannot hear but I can see
Now she is kicking soil into my face
I swear I will return to haunt her
Six feet under, I'm in a coffin made of glass
Six feet under, It's so very hard to breath
My hands are turning blue
While my nails are turning to Red
The lyrics of King Diamond's song Six Feet Under depict a tragic story of betrayal and revenge. The singer is buried alive in a coffin made of glass by his own family who orchestrated a conspiracy against him. He gasps for breath and witnesses his family's faces clouded with greed and sinister smiles as they gloat over their triumph. He watches in horror as his sister kicks soil into his face and laughter echoes in his ears. The color of his hands and nails changes as he starts to lose his grip on life. The final verse promises that he will return to haunt his sister, indicating that revenge is his only solace.
This song evokes the feeling of being trapped and helpless, with no way out of a dire situation. The sense of betrayal by one's own family adds to the horror of the situation. The coffin made of glass symbolizes the singer's inability to escape, as he is forced to watch his own funeral and the people who caused his demise.
