Take It Off
King Kobra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don't know why all the things you wear
Do such strange things to me
The way you dress gets people talkin'
Cuz' it's the things that they see

Silk stockings and romantic lace
Can set a man's soul on fire
No other lady looks as good as you
You wear a woman's attire

Something happens when you start your show
You get that look in your eye

Take it off, take it off
Take it off-cuz' I like it

You try and tease with an overcoat
And a smile your face
Slip into something more comfortable
Oh girl you're makin' me wait

I get crazy when the lights are low
And my passion is high.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Take It Off" by King Kobra are a celebration of a woman's sensuality and the power of her clothes to create desire in men. The singer is captivated by the way that the woman dresses and how it makes him feel. He is drawn to her silk stockings, romantic lace, and the way she wears lingerie in public, which all create a sexual charge between them. The woman's clothes are the source of her power, and the attention that they garner from others only adds to her appeal.

As the singer watches her, he can feel the excitement mounting within him. There is a certain look in her eye when she puts on a show, and he can't resist the temptation to ask her to take off her clothes. He wants her to strip down to what's underneath and reveal to him the secrets of her body. He's willing to wait, but he's also anxious to see what she's hiding.

Overall, the song is an ode to the erotic power of clothing and the way that it can create a certain mood and atmosphere. The lyrics celebrate the female form and the way that it can drive men wild.

I love this song and always felt their 3rd record with Johnny Edwards on vocals was underrated. I really like his vocal style. Not to mention, Mean Street Machine, the album opener, is a beast of a song 🤘

Line-up for this album was David-Michael Phillips (guitars), Carmine Appice (drums), Johnny Edwards (vocals), Jeff Northrup (guitars), and Larry Hart (bass).

@Metaldog38's Home Of Metal so basically Appice us the only one left. Well that's pretty much how things usually end up. It's a decent track

@MAS4JI

@Eric Pymm David- Michael Phillips and Carmine Appice were on the the first two releases. A new release is coming summer 2022 that is supposed to feature a guitar duo of Carlos Cavazo (Quiet Riot) and Rowan Robertson (Dio), with Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt) on vocals, plus Carmine and Johnny Rod. That has the potential to be awesome.
