Couldn't agree more. I was familiar with the Sandman but had never read the comics or other materials. The opening scene immediately hooked me in. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

@walker There's unbelievable amount of gay people in it though, more than a local gay bar. There's even literally an episode that implies everyone is gay even when seemingly straight if they are truthful to themselves. Which is kind of a weird angle to take if you don't think sexuality isn't a choice.
It's unapologetically diverse too. Even with characters like Death that used to be a pale white goth. (Though she pulled it off really well so props to her) All unredeemable bad people are white men. So yeah I think it's definitely deliberately woke.
However that being said, it still has good writing (although the acting could be better in later episodes). There's definitely more soul to this and that's because it actually happens to mostly respect the source material which was pretty progressive to begin with.
It doesn't feel completely corporate, has a great score, great acting and effects. I would love to see more. If we don't get a flood of all the tropes about "the message" from the secular zealots and it keeps sticking to the wonderful, dark and mystical.

I wasn't sure of the casting. I wanted someone older and more gaunt. But hearing him speak is pretty much exactly what I imagined seeing his dark wobbly text in the comic. He's done a great job.

@Evi You should watch it. The first 7 episodes were perfect. The last three were good but the show switches genre in the last 4 episodes that's why it feels a bit underwhelming. Still last three episodes are quite enjoyable. Moreover, the bonus episode is a masterpiece in it's own right.

God Morpheus’s voice is so soothing…but I didn’t know Tom Sturridge could go that low. If you watch interviews with him, his out of character voice is a lot higher pitched and softer.

It’s a bit dark for me, plot-wise and actual values-wise too. But I’m still loving parts of it, and the characters. Even if I do have to strain to watch all those very dark scenes in the shadows 😂

Almost every night I ask "Mr Sandman, bring me a dream"... I get none. I fall asleep at 2 am, am up at 4 and then 6 and 9 and then full day ahead of me, incapable of naps. Rinse and repeat. Best of my dreams are me cleaning my home. With much more to do. Then I awake. Repeat.
