Love wasn't a thing you could be fake at, fake at
All around the world people will say that
Their attention's from the heart
I'm sorry to relay that, lay that
Most people out there they get their own back, own back
Nobody got time to save a stranger
So tell me what would you do
You find yourself all alone
And people walk past their cars
As they look down at their phones
I know you do it so do I (mmhm)
And we always say
Too much to do when we got so little time
So we just close our eyes
And we hope it'll be alright
It'll be alright
Lucky to be alive
Lucky to be alive
Lucky to be alive
No, no, no, no
Let's not do this, hold the phone
How did we get so alone
All this love but no ones home
All these lies they're so false hopes
So false hopes
Live with mortals, all broke jokes
And everybody's in on it
Smoking mirrors, look more smoke
Look more smoke, look more smoke
It's easy to close our eyes
And way more fun to act surprised
Than stand for something, close your eyes
Close your eyes, girl close your eyes
It'll be over in a while
It's all over see it now
Just work on how to fake your smile
So tell me what would you do
You find yourself all alone
And people walk past their cars
As they look down at their phones
Know you do it so do I (mmhm)
And we always say
Too much to do when we got so little time
So we just close our eyes
And we hope it'll be all right
It'll be alright
Lucky to be alive
Lucky to be alive
Lucky to be alive
Lucky to be alive
In "Aliv3," King sings about the rapid pace of modern life that has made people forget the value of love and human connection. The opening lines of the song evoke the feeling of nostalgia for a time when love was genuine and not just a social obligation to be performed for show. King then goes on to criticize the current state of human affairs, where people are superficial and disconnected from their own selves and each other. He poses a thought-provoking question about what one would do when they find themselves alone, abandoned by others who prioritize their own self-interests over the suffering of strangers.
The next verse is an introspective moment where he confesses to being guilty of the same behavior he's criticizing. He acknowledges the tendency to get lost in the rat race of life, which often leaves little time for anything else, let alone extending help to someone in need. He believes that it's easier for people to stay ignorant about the problems around them and resort to delusion. The chorus then brings in the theme of being grateful for being alive and reminds us that even in the midst of chaos, there's hope.
