Hawkshaw was born in London, England in 1969 and is the daughter of British Disco producer Alan Hawkshaw (of Love De-Luxe with Hawkshaw's Discophonia fame; they had a #1 disco hit on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1979 with "Here Comes That Sound Again". He later went on to compose the famous theme music for the British television game show Countdown). It was through her father and her love for dance music that would inspire Kirsty to pursue a career in music.
At a rave event in 1991 she was noticed by producers Ian Munro, Kevin Dobbs and Nigel Walton, who at the time were known as A.S.K. It was through this meeting that they would form a Dance act called Opus III. Their first single, "It's A Fine Day" from their debut album Mind Fruit was an international smash and hit #1 on Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1992. They also had another US #1 hit on the Dance chart in 1994 with "When You Made The Mountain" from their second and last album Guru Mother.
After the group broke up in 1994, Hawkshaw pursued a solo career and since then has been in demand by other acts in the Dance, House, Eurodance, Trance, and Electronica community, ranging from DJ Tiesto to Delerium.
Kirsty recorded an ambient, ethereal album, Enlightenment, which was never released.
On October 10, 2005 she released Meta-Message, a collection of older and newer songs after a growing interest in her out-of print O.U.T..

Chapter 8
Kirsty Hawkshaw Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Will disappear
And everything that ventured inside it
Will have no relevance
But it will still be felt out there
Somewhere in the bigness
Like the way I still feel you
Somethings are better left unsaid
But I will never underestimate
The meaning behind chapter eight
Between the knowing and the believing
There is no space for the sunrise or doubt
I've packed my bags full of existence
That's all!
Memories outside this village
Visit sometimes
And I'm dancing again
Somethings are better left unsaid
Some books are better left unread
But I will never underestimate
The meaning behind chapter 8
Knowledge and understanding
Remain my faithful companions
I'll keep them safe under my hood
And when I'm ready to forgive
It may sink in
The chapter I never understood
In the chapter I never understood
The lyrics of Kirsty Hawkshaw's song Chapter 8 convey the idea of impermanence and reflect on the human tendency to hold onto things that may no longer have relevance or be significant in our lives. The black hole is used as a metaphor for this idea, symbolizing something that can eventually disappear and leave no trace of what it once contained. The singer acknowledges that despite this, the feelings and memories associated with the past will still be felt somewhere in the vastness of space, just as she still feels the presence of someone she once knew.
She goes on to suggest that some things are better left unspoken and some books are better left unread, but she will never underestimate the significance of Chapter 8. This could be interpreted as a reference to the chapter of her life that she never fully understood or maybe a symbol for a particular event or person in her past that still lingers in her memory. The singer reminds us that knowledge and understanding are vital companions in life, which we should always keep close, and that forgiveness and acceptance may take time to sink in, especially when it comes to things we never understood.
Overall, the song, with its dream-like sound and poetic lyrics, is a meditation on the impermanence of life and the importance of holding onto memories and feelings that continue to shape us.

One day the black hole
At some point in time, the black hole
Will disappear
will no longer exist
And everything that ventured inside it
all that dared to enter will be gone
Will have no relevance
will no longer hold any significance
But it will still be felt out there
however, its presence will still be sensed somewhere
Somewhere in the bigness
within the vastness of the universe
Like the way I still feel you
similarly to how I still sense your existence
Somethings are better left unsaid
certain things are best kept unspoken
Some books are better left unread
some writings are best left undiscovered
But I will never underestimate
however, I will never undervalue
The meaning behind chapter eight
the importance of the content of chapter eight
Between the knowing and the believing
in the realm where knowledge meets faith
There is no space for the sunrise or doubt
no room for uncertainty or hesitation
I've packed my bags full of existence
I have gathered all my experiences and memories
That's all!
that is all I have
Memories outside this village
recollections beyond this place
Visit sometimes
occasionally come to mind
And I'm dancing again
and I am filled with joy once more
Knowledge and understanding
comprehension and realization
Remain my faithful companions
are my loyal allies
I'll keep them safe under my hood
I will protect them with all my might
And when I'm ready to forgive
and when I am prepared to let go of grudges
It may sink in
it may finally register
The chapter I never understood
the section of my life that I never comprehended fully
