The lyrics of Klamydia’s “Nilkit” tell a dark and bleak story of the self-destructive tendencies of human beings as witnessed by a group of bystanders, or “nilkit”. The song starts by referencing the deaths of Finnish musicians, Juice Leskinen and Irwin Goodman, who are said to have drank themselves to death. It also recounts the change of style of another musician, Järvinen, who seems to have lost his way. Amidst all this, the “nilkit” watch on as people destroy themselves, and even profit from it, with the line “Pikku runkut laskin kädessä nettoaa muhkeita tilejä” (“With a calculator in hand, the ‘nilkit’ net huge profits”).
The song also mentions how the deaths of famous people are often exploited for commercial gain, such as the quick release of albums after the deaths of Laila Kinnunen and Olavi Virta.
