Ya, not defense, my butt. The guy literally heard and walked in on his wife being assaulted. The assailant had a knife and threatened to kill his wife and assault his daughter. Lives were in danger, and from his explanation, there wasn't any time for apprehension. Last time I checked, someone else's life in danger counts as an acceptable situation for violent self-defense.

Yeah I was like that before, trying to be okay with it cuz I can't figure it out with earbud and finding ones that allow enough sound to notice during sounds with screaming that won't break quickly for me, my ears block outside sound too easily for my comfort and I don't trust strangers but I am not giving up music on walks.

Sounds so funny when I write it out but I swear it's like my ears WANT to block out sound. Like I get it, I also like to pretend I'm surrounded by strangers that could want to the worst to me, but I am not safe like that. Being followed into my own neighborhood regularly and having one guy that was definitely trying to kidnap me (he knew I was taking a walk the first time he offered me a ride he drove away and came back to ask if I was sure 3 times. For a walk).

I'm lost a bit of progress with that one. I don't usually need to worry about that kind of trigger cuz I only watch the darker stuff when I'm in the right mindset but man I love my partner way to much for that to not be paranoid after hearing it. I'm okay, just gonna have to add that to the stuff to work through.

As someone who wears headphones whenever I’m playing games, the last story really fucks with me.
Not only is it just a horrible story, but it also makes me afraid that one day something bad will be happening and I won’t hear it due to my headphones.
Luckily I have cheap headphones so they don’t cancel all noise but still, it’s a scary thought.

Get a good set of open backs and that will avoid this problem and many others, keeps situational awareness inside the game and makes it so you don’t seem too engrossed in the game or music to care about the outside world and loved ones. Only downside is everyone can hear you so 🫤. However I’d probably recommend them to the guy in the story as it removes the fear of not being able to hear what’s going on if he can work through his other ptsd.

I needed that intro. I lost my little sister. She was one of many victims of a traffic ring and she was so amazingly reunited with us in 2009. She struggled with PTSD and depression and our parents weren’t around enough to even care. Her mental health got to her in 2014. I miss her and it gets to me everyday more and more. Even now I still go into her room, as it has been the same since she went missing, and i just lay in her bed and hold her favorite stuffed animal and cry. I love and miss you so much, Lina❤️

It may not have been Scott, but the kid in his story did go missing as well and it doesn’t sound like the police did a very good job talking to the kids that hung around in the woods, which would probably be the first line of people after parents.

Idk, That with the thunderstorms after both disappearances, same timeframe, it really has a lot in common if not the same case. I’m not sure that it isn’t.

I thought this would haunt me while I tried to sleep tonight, but then he played that last story and now I have a new nightmare unlocked👍

@@misseselise3864 I meant the case could probably be solved now considering this lead. At the time, it was probably believed he was abducted by an adult. I don't think there would be any criminal prosecution, so maybe that's why the police are not interested. It's possible the kids who killed him were questioned at the time. It's also possible the guy on reddit didn't tell the whole story; maybe they actually buried him in fear of being caught, and the storm simply covered up the evidence of them digging.

I think at the time the cops probably assumed Scott was abducted, though. I think it's possible he was buried by the kids and the storm covered the evidence.

Self defense statutes usually include "or the defense of others" as a secondary clause. This was not an execution because he was stopping violent crime in progress--since the wife was under the control of the criminal, any attempt to simply order the attacker to stop could get her killed or abducted.

I’m not sure if the mental health awareness warning you do at the beginning nowadays is because of the graphic content discussed, good will and nothing more, or if you’ve recently lost someone. In any case, I love the message, wish more people started a video with words like those. A friend of friends who I went to high school with and shared many laughs with shot himself a few days back. I once had a neighbor who closely resembled the second one. He had an unfounded belief that my family was attempting to "steal his house." This resulted in him recording our activities, placing nails on the outside of our garage to damage our vehicle's tires, throwing rocks at our ceiling, and even going so far as to create a minor fire in his own house, falsely claiming that we were responsible for the incident. Eventually, after enduring his disruptive behavior, my family and other neighbors reached a breaking point, leading to his arrest. Over time, his son sold the house, and we haven't seen him ever since. Adding to the unsettling nature of the situation, he was a veteran of the Nicaraguan war in the 1980s, which instilled a constant fear that he might attempt to break into our home and shoot us up or something so I started sleeping with a knife for several months.

The last story... My husband always wears noise cancelling headphones whether he's working, gaming, or just watching videos. I can go into his office and stand right behind him yelling his name and he won't hear me, so someone could totally break in and do something to me and he wouldn't hear me screaming. It’s not dumb. A coworker of mine was listening to music on headphones and when he was in the kitchen he turned around and there were three men in there and they beat and robbed him. He didn’t hear a thing. He never listens to headphones at home anymore and I don’t either. I went the other way and use little speakers but I don’t blast it.

It's not the same but I look after my disabled mum and I literally sit with my headphones off one ear because I'm paranoid that one day she's going to be in trouble and I'm not going to hear and I'll just going downstairs and find that she died. I was a Witness of the last story, And thank you so much for spreading awareness of the Last story. I was a neighbor of Jonathon and his Wife Brittany And recently heard they had their child. Nothing much but Jonathon Had been struggling financially, Not a surprise but I was also. The day this incident happend I saw a black SUV Pull up to Jonathon's driveway. I didn't See much else as I thought it was family because it was Thanksgiving. So about 15 minutes later I hear a gunshot from Jonathon's house. Then Jonathon walks out Heavily covered in blood but no emotion on his face. Purely Traumatized. He gave me his baby and he walks back into his home. And he walks out with his wife Which is crying. The Paramedics arrive and so do An entire unit of cops surrounding the house and the neighborhood. I feel so incredibly horrible for Jonathon.

@@blobthefishthatcanbreath8572 eh, tbh it feels kinda sus ngl. not that they play roblox so much, but the fact they uploaded their 2 gameplay vids on youtube and nothing else. i assume the guy in the story gave over his daughter and his GUN to an adult, and i kinda doubt this poster here was an adult when this story took place some years ago.
of course it could be true and "lukey 212 turkman" over here is indeed the neighbor in the story, but it would take some hard evidence for me to believe it.

Hi, me too. So we are not really alone in the sense that we are both struggling. Just think there are a lot more people out there going through struggles too, and yet we all feel completely alone. I wish I could create a community online for all the people who feel this way to get online and talk to one another and support each other. I can’t seem to find anywhere like that so I sit at home just thinking and making myself more and more depressed. I know you posted several days ago, I hope you feel better now. ✌️💙😀

Honestly, the last story makes me satisfied when the OP says that it was an execution type of defense. It honestly makes me imagine just a row of sex offenders being killed by firing squad but in a very painful and slow way. It is horrible what the wife and husband had to go through, more the wife, but a disgusting being was killed as deserved and by execution at that.

first video i've watched of you and seriously you are underrated imo [not saying you don't already have a pretty wide audience]. as everyone else in the comments; really glad about the intro. the way you speak feels super sincere, not as forceful as some youtubers, and i have found i really enjoy listening to your content while drawing since you do have great explanations where i dont feel like i need to constantly look at the scream. i appreciate the research done even if it is just things you can find through other videos or a search. rlly just hoping to spread some positivity with this <3

The last story messed me up definitely. I was actually more bothered by him saying that his daughter now has the memory of him killing a man, but that's not all! She also had to watch her mother getting assaulted. It's like he forgot that part.

she was 1 and half, she isn't gonna remember anything. the brain, especially the hippocampus isn't developed enough to store memories that long. hell she doesn't even know what she is seeing and is probably just screaming because a man she doesn't know is screaming at her and her mom.

the last story is so sad, i can only imagine the amount of trauma that came from that situation. killing someone, not being able to wear headphones ever again, knowing that your wife and daughter were being assaulted while you were playing a game, having the law say it was more of an execution than self defense, feeling as if it’s your fault. God bless him and his family.

That last one, the one time i wore headphones while gaming my house got broken into and.i didn't realize until my mother came to get me i felt like an idiot because i was just playing games while my mom was terrified for me and my sisters. No one was hurt but they took some stuff, i was like 10.

I still feel terrible about it, can't fathom what he's dealing with.

My mom was told years ago in a small town in Texas that if someone entered the house and she shot him she would be cleared automatically since he was breaking and entering. I've always kept that in mind when I hear a bump in the night. There was a man trying to get into the backyard one night while my dad was deployed so it was just my mom and older brother who was just a baby. If it wasn't for the dog he might have gotten in, that dog was pretty big and didn't let anyone in the yard unless they came in from the house. The cop also told her off the record that if the man had tried to get in and she had to shoot him in the doorway or something to hurry and drag him just inside the door and they'd understand. This was back in the late '70s for some context.

I was on reddit last month and I saw a video of a man who got his face ripped off by a bear. It was just hanging there off of his chin, and he was still alive too. He was trying to speak to the camra, but you couldnt make out what he was saying. It was a little traumatizing but I've seen worse

I had a really bad day mentally, like I cant stop having unhealthy thoughts but I can't tell anyone because I don't want them to worry. I have therapy tomorrow and I don't know if I'll even tell the therapist. But somehow what you said brought me some comfort. Thank you

The last one really hit for me
When I was a kid I saw a very horrific scene from some movie that was depicting r*pe and SA
it scarred me for life and eventually manifested into intense fear and trauma that any woman in my life may suffer such a horrific experience
Hearing how that played out and how the dude was oblivious is literally the scenario plays in my head whenever I had intense nightmares about this stuff. I’m glad it ended on a very happy and light note for the dude and his family, the pig who was assaulted his wife deserved worse than what he got.
