Korn Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
That's falling down, at least they start to fry
Why can't I be removed, take their places?
Sometimes it's better to eat their scars
These are the times of the waking liar
Hold him close, or you will expire
Holding on to the place you're thinking
I like to lose hope
Recede and cope
Like a beautiful rape
These things, aren't they great?
I'm terrified by emotionless faces
They're all around me I want to die
I'm fucking trippin' out seeing traces
Of murderers covered in lye
These are the times of the waking liar
Hold him close, or you will expire
Holding on to the place you're thinking
Total deceit
I like to lose hope
Recede and cope
Like a beautiful rape
These things, aren't they great?
I love the things that make you upset
The more you hurt, the stronger I get
I love the things that make you upset
The more you hurt, the stronger
I like to lose hope
Recede and cope
Like a beautiful rape
These things, aren't they great?
The lyrics in Korn's song "Tension" describe the feelings of anger and frustration towards society and the desire to disconnect from it. The opening line, "I'm plowing through a crowd of worthless hatred," expresses the singer's contempt for the people around them, who they feel embody negative emotions such as hatred. The following lines, "That's falling down, at least they start to fry, Why can't I be removed, take their places?" convey a sense of satisfaction in witnessing the downfall of these individuals, as well as a desire to trade places with them in order to escape their own emotional turmoil.
As the song progresses, the lyrics shift towards a sense of paranoia and anxiety. The lines "I'm terrified by emotionless faces, They're all around me I want to die" convey a sense of isolation and a feeling of being surrounded by people who are unable to empathize or show emotion. The line "Of murderers covered in lye" adds to the sense of danger and a feeling of being hunted by those who would do harm.
Overall, the lyrics in "Tension" convey a sense of anger towards society, a desire to disconnect from it, and a growing sense of paranoia and anxiety. The use of violent imagery to illustrate these emotions adds to the overall intensity of the song.
