Ring of Fire
Kris Allen and Adam Lambert Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring
Bound by the wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire

I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames went up higher
And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire, the ring of fire

The taste of love is sweet
When hearts like ours meet
I fell for you like a child
Oh, and the fire went wild

I fell into burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames went up higher
And it burns, burns, burns
The ring of fire, the ring of fire

Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring
Bound by your wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire

I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames went higher

I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down

And the flames got higher
And it burns, ooh it burns

Overall Meaning

The song Ring of Fire, originally written and performed by Johnny Cash, has been covered by many artists over the years, including Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. The song is a metaphorical representation of love's intensity and how it can consume an individual's entire being like a ring of fire. The opening lines, "Love is a burning thing and it makes a fiery ring," convey an image of a fiery circle that the singer falls into as a result of their wild desire.

As the lyrics continue, the singer describes how they fell deeper and deeper into the "burning ring of fire" as the flames grew higher. The chorus repeats this phrase, emphasizing the intensity of the love that the singer feels. The second verse adds to the metaphor by describing the "sweet" taste of love when hearts like theirs meet, but also how it can be dangerous and cause the "fire" to go wild.

Overall, the song describes a love that is all-consuming and intense, represented by the fiery ring of fire that the singer falls into. The lyrics capture the passion and danger that love can hold.

I love Adam and Kris. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ˜ They are both amazing singers and artists. It would be a dream if they recorded a song together (even with their musical styles being completely opposite). They could do a "Kradison" live with alison too. I miss seeing the three together. ๐Ÿฅฐ

I, along with millions of other people, were pissed that Adam didn't win! He was the only one who made that season exciting and it would've been so boring without him there. I don't think he ever got bad critiques on any of his performances other than during country week, which I can kind of understand because I, too, thought it was a little strange. With all that said, 13 years later, it doesn't matter anymore at all that Adam came in 2nd because he's gone on to be way more successful than Kris and he's touring with one of the biggest-selling rock bands of all time. I have to say I think he's the most successful non-winner to date and rightfully so!

America wasn't ready for him. By what has transpired since then it shows we are still not. Maybe some day

Listening to Chris sing and listening to Adam sing makes my ears clear.
I feel like my hearing has improved.
The difference in skills between the two is so obvious.

Just come across this video and I am so surprise they are being compared. There is no comparison between the two. They are both good but Adam is much much better. Kris voice is so ordinary. There is nothing especial. He sang just like in karaoke. Even facial expression is so bland. But he won anyway. Blessing for Adam for not winning. People knows who is the real winner.

Kis is the wall paint. Adam is the painting you hang on it.
