In Sweden, singer Krister Linder is more known as the guy who disappeared. Since his national career started off with a blast in the late eighties, he's been making it anything but simple to track him down. Back in those days he used the pseudonym Chris Lancelot, but after a massive movie-soundtrack hit with his band at the time, Grace, he shaved his head, changed his name again and immediately formed a new group called DIVE together with band-member/producer Erik Holmberg. DIVEs perhaps most memorable track Captain Nemo, was discovered and interpreted by Brittish singer Sara Brightman who released her own version on single, album, Best Of-Compilation and live-album. But instead of pursuing their path, DIVE released their third and perhaps best album in 1994 and then vanished.
While some were still waiting for DIVE's fourth album, Mr. Linder had stopped singing and begun to produce instrumental works for limited editions on small labels. He put out electronic music under names like Tupilaq, Yeti, Society, Illuminum, Godkingpriest and Solaroid while consistently changing aliases for each new release. Then, occasionally his voice would make guest-appearances on others' tracks. Apparently he had left his bat-cave or whatever to do vocals with fine underground artists like Cari Lekebusch, Peter Benish, Cotton Ferox, Omnimotion and Vacuum. But those who liked the sound of him never knew where he would pop up next or what he'd call himself.
Now, 12 years after DIVE Mr. Linder suddenly turns up as himself, with a label of his own and a fresh, self-produced album. Songs From The Silent Years is a collection of gems from one of the most beloved, lost sons of Sweden.
His song Dare is used as a soundtrack on Metropia.Movie directed by Tarik Saleh.
Dare
Krister Linder Lyrics

My moth heart
Yet ocean deep
Timeless and dark
Inescapable
Your soft spot
Lethal the game
Merciless flame
Who would dare to love again
If all cuts and every burn would awaken
And open wide the wounds again
Who would dare to love again
My friend
I'm a whisper in your snowstorm
Veiled in a dream shadowing suns
But if I could shed my armour
And lay in your arms
Sink in your death
Pass through to you
I could dare to love again
Even if the world awakened the pain
Lashing out pulling me down back in
I could dare to love with you
My friend
If I dare to love again
I expose myself to anything life brings
And all the threats are there again
Only this time I'm with you
My friend
The lyrics of Krister Linder's song Dare delve into the complex and often daunting nature of vulnerability in love. The opening lines describe the singer's heart as "infinitely small" yet "ocean deep," implying a fragile heart that runs deep with strong emotions. The next line "inescapable/your soft spot" points towards a particular individual who has the power to penetrate the singer's defenses and access their vulnerable side, making them feel exposed and unprotected. This vulnerability is amplified by the next line "lethal the game/fatal the light/merciless flame," suggesting that the whole experience of opening oneself up to love is dangerous and potentially harmful.
The chorus invites listeners to consider the question "who would dare to love again?" in a world where pain and hurt are ubiquitous, and heartbreak is the norm. The singer questions whether anyone would be brave enough to risk their heart again. The second verse acknowledges the difficulty of the situation, with the singer acknowledging their own fear and history of being hurt in past relationships. The use of natural imagery like "whisper in your snowstorm/veiled in a dream shadowing suns" adds to the sense of vulnerability, as the singer is rendered powerless in the face of the natural forces surrounding them.
However, the song ends on a hopeful note, with the singer stating that they "could dare to love again, even if the world awakened the pain." The presence of the friend in the chorus implies that there is someone there to support the singer emotionally, someone who might be able to mitigate the pain and provide a sense of safety. Thus, although the song grapples with the difficulties of love and trust, it ultimately suggests that it is possible to find love again with the right person by one's side.

I'm a whisper in your snowstorm
I'm barely noticeable amidst the chaos of your life
Veiled in a dream shadowing suns
I remain hidden and obscured, like a dream obscuring reality
