Ballroom Blitz
Krokus Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Oh it's been getting so hard
Livin' with the things you do to me, aha
Oh my dreams are getting so strange
I'd like to tell you everything I see
Oh, I see a man at the back
As a matter of fact his eyes are red as the sun
And a girl in the corner let no one ignore her
'Cause she thinks she's the passionate one

Oh, yeah, it was like lightning, everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing, and they all started grooving

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And the man at the back said
Everyone attacked and it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz

I'm reaching out for something
Touching nothing's all I ever do
Oh, I softly call you over
When you appear there's nothing left of you, aha
Now the man in the back
Is ready to crack as he raises his hands to the sky
And the girl in the corner is ev'ryone's mourner
She could kill you with a wink of her eye

Oh yeah, it was electric, so frightfully hectic
And the band started leaving, 'cause they all stopped breathing

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And the man at the back said
Everyone attack and it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz

Oh yeah, it was like lightning, everybody was frightening
And the music was soothing, and they all started grooving

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
And the man at the back said
Everyone attacked and it turned into a ballroom blitz
And the girl in the corner said
Boy, I wanna warn ya, it'll turn into a ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz, ballroom blitz
Ballroom blitz

It's it's a ballroom blitz, it's it's a ballroom blitz
It's it's a ballroom blitz, yeah, it's a ballroom blitz

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Krokus's song "Ballroom Blitz" describe a chaotic and intense situation in a ballroom. The first verse paints a picture of the singer struggling to cope with the tumultuous environment that surrounds them. The dreams they have are becoming stranger, and they feel compelled to communicate everything they see to someone else. The following lines mention two other people in the ballroom: a man with red eyes sitting at the back of the room, and a girl in the corner who believes she is the most passionate person in the room.

The chorus then explodes with energy as the music and madness reach a fever pitch. The man at the back raises his hands in surrender, and the girl in the corner becomes the "mourner" of the chaos. The second verse continues with descriptions of how electric and hectic the atmosphere has become, with the band feeling like they can't go on. The chorus repeats, and the song ends with the repeated phrase "It's a Ballroom Blitz."

The lyrics for "Ballroom Blitz" are meant to be enjoyed more for their energy and intensity than for any deeper meaning. However, there are a few interpretations that could be made. The song can be seen as a commentary on the decadence and excesses of the music industry, or it could be seen as a celebration of the power of music to unite people and create a shared experience. It's not clear what the song is trying to say, but it's a lot of fun to listen to.

When I first heard Krokus, I was convinced they were gonna be the next biggest thing. I don't know what happened... they were a freekin awesome band. Same with Fastway.

B. G.

@Caveman I don't like any version of the song frankly.

The relevant point here is that the members of Krokus themselves consider it to have been a mistake.

But if you like it that's fine. You do you 😉

Caveman

@B. G. 'This crap'? This is the best version of Ballroom Blitz recorded, even better than the original.

Caveman

Too many parallels with AC/DC were drawn up and in the end people, well the record labels thought people only needed AC/DC and none of the 'clones'. They are a gallus band.

I worked a few other concerts and I really enjoyed their music and then they disappeared. They were big though

Stoner no Brainer Munchies

Totally agree man! I remember I was in lock up my brother sent me a tape of Krokus, yes a cassette tape LOL. Def Leppard had just come out with their big big album. People were saying Krokus was going to be the next Def Leppard. And fast Eddie from Motorhead with fastway, same thing. There was a lot of good bands out there at the time and a lot got squashed on because they didn't get radio play because they weren't popular enough apparently. Bands like the Rods and Rainbow also. Sometimes it's not who you know it's who you blow unfortunately
