In the City
Kutless Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Let Your healing fall like rain
God You gave us everything
May Your church do more than sing
Bless this city in Jesus' name
Wake up every heart You've changed
Help us be Your hands and feet
Father, make us one
Let Your kingdom come in the city
Glorify Your Son
Let Your will be done in the city
In the city
Bless this city in Jesus' name
Tear down walls we've built in vain
Let our kingdoms be replaced
With unity that shows Your face
Father, make us one
Let Your kingdom come in the city
Glorify Your Son
Let Your will be done in the city
In the city
In the city
Father, make us one
Let Your kingdom come in the city
Glorify Your Son
Let Your will be done in the city
In the city
Bless this city in Jesus' name
Let Your healing fall like rain
God You gave us everything
May Your church do more than sing
The lyrics to Kutless's song In the City are a prayerful request for God to bless the city and its inhabitants in Jesus' name. The singer asks for God's healing to fall like rain, saying that God gave us everything and that the church should do more than sing. The song then moves into a request for God to wake up every heart that He's changed and help the church be His hands and feet, making our love flood every street. The chorus repeats the request for God to make us one and let His kingdom come, glorifying His Son and letting His will be done in the city.
The theme of this song is unity and the power of God to bring about change. When we come together as one, we can tear down walls that we've built in vain and replace our kingdoms with unity that shows God's face. This is a call to action for Christians to be the light in the darkness, spreading God's love and healing throughout the city. It is a reminder that we have been given everything we need to make a difference in the world, and we should not be content to simply sing about our faith but should actively live it out.
Overall, this song is a powerful prayer for the city and a reminder that as Christians, we have a responsibility to be the hands and feet of Jesus, bringing His love and healing to those around us. It is an uplifting and inspiring song that reminds us of the power of unity and the transformative power of God.
