Kutless Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I see a tear in your eye
Why'd you turn away
Why'd you run
Run til this point of breaking
No walking away
No walking away
You were the one
That I looked to
I never thought
I'd see you run
I never thought I'd see you
Turn your back on
All you knew was right
You turned your back on God
No walking away
No walking away
No walking away
This time
No walking away
I see you're back again
You'll never run again
This time
No walking away
No walking away
The Kutless song "This Time" is a powerful message of redemption and second chances. The opening lyrics reveal a person who sees someone they care about, but that person is troubled and running away. The singer asks why this person would turn away and run until they break. The repeated phrase "No walking away" is a clear plea to the person to stop running away from their problems.
The song takes a turn when the singer references their previously high regard for the troubled person, saying that they never thought they would see them run. Then, in a powerful moment, the singer says, "I never thought I'd see you turn your back on all you knew was right. You turned your back on God." This line reveals the reason for the person's running away, and it suggests that they have been struggling with faith or other fundamental aspects of their life.
The song ends on a hopeful note, as the singer sees the troubled person returning and declares that they will never run again. The final lines "No walking away, this time. No walking away" suggest that there will be no more running away from problems, and that the person who was struggling has been given a second chance.
