Teach Me
Kyle Riabko Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I have a million friends
But I never know just where their story ends
I am a business man
Talk like a ladies man
But all of my words are scribbled on my hand
How to worry
Teach me how
I need your help
Teach me to live
Teach me to
Teach me to
Teach myself
I'd be your perfect mate
According to Chatelaine
But trust me, I cheated
Baby I'm a fake
If I told you that I was a liar
Would you believe believe…
I don't need another mother baby
I need someone who can take me
Make a better man of me
In "Teach Me," Kyle Riabko sings about his desire to learn from someone who can help him become a better man. At first glance, the lyrics may appear to be about a man with no friends, but as the first few lines make clear, the singer is not lonely - rather, he has many friends but struggles to understand their stories. As the song continues, he reveals that he is a successful businessman who talks like a ladies' man, but admits that his words are empty and meaningless. He acknowledges that he is a fake and a cheat, and desperately wants someone to teach him how to worry and how to live.
The chorus, which repeats the phrase "Teach me how," is a plea for help from someone who can offer guidance and support. The singer doesn't want to be told what to do - he wants to learn how to teach himself, how to become a better person in his own right. He feels like he needs a mentor, but doesn't want to be treated like a child. At the same time, he recognizes that he is not perfect, and that he needs to change. The song ends on a note of vulnerability, as the singer confesses that he doesn't need another mother, but someone who can make him a better man.
