When he was growing up, Dustin mostly listened to 80’s and 90’s bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden and his all-time favorite band Radiohead, with “My Iron Lung” being one of his favorite songs.
LIL DUSTY G started making music as early as 2017, and even gave live shows that same year.
On December 30th, 2017, Dustin performed live on the WINTER WONDER FEST for the first time alongside RONEN and Yung Coop.
After a six-month-long hiatus from making music, LIL DUSTY G released his single “INSECTS” in February of 2019, as well as his debut EP siix in August of 2019, both of which were very well received.
In late 2020, Dustin signed with Polar Culture, Marshmello’s record label, after Marshmello reached out to him on Instagram, telling him that he really liked Dustin’s music. Shortly after the signing, Marshmello and LIL DUSTY G dropped their first collaboration called “PREACHED”, right after which Dustin announced his debut album UNDERGROWTH, which released in February of 2022.
DEAD END
LIL DUSTY G Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've been waitin', I've been patient bout my whole damn life
I'ma make it, I'ma take it
Ink through the flames drippin' slowly on the pavement
Two men, cross the road
Both ended up dead that's how the story's told and
I know how it goes, keep walkin' down the path until your body's cold
Said, two men, cross the road
Both ended up dead that's how the story's told, yeah
I know how it goes
Keep walkin' down the path until your body's cold, yeah
Keep walkin' down the path until your body's cold, yeah
You don't know the loneliness inside
I've been waitin', I've been patient bout my whole damn life
I'ma make it, I'ma take it
Ink through the flames dripping slowly on the pavement
In "Dead End", LIL DUSTY G expresses his feelings of loneliness and his determination to succeed despite the obstacles in his life. The lyrics suggest that he has been waiting and patiently working towards his goals for his entire life, and he is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve them. The imagery of ink dripping through flames onto the pavement suggests that he is pouring his emotions and creativity into his music, despite the challenges he faces.
The story of two men crossing the road and both ending up dead is used as a metaphor for the dangers of following a path that leads to a dead end. The repetition of the phrase "keep walking down the path until your body's cold" reinforces the idea that perseverance can be dangerous if it is not combined with wisdom and self-awareness.
Overall, "Dead End" is a powerful song that uses vivid imagery and metaphors to explore themes of loneliness, perseverance, and the dangers of blindly following a path to nowhere.
