Bentley
Lana Del Rey Lyrics

Death reflecting in his eyes
Thought about all the women who loved me
I said, "oh no!" he said, "get inside"
I said, "oh no!" he said, "get inside"
I got into his summer sky, blue Bentley
Sun reflecting in my eyes
I said, "Uh huh" I said "I want to drive"
I said, "Uh huh I want, I want to drive"
We drive, We drive
You say you wanna go swimming in my ring
It's green and shimmering
Like my lipstick, the color of dawn
Like my lipstick, the color of dawn
We got out of his summer sky, blue Bentley
Death reflecting in the sky
He held my hand to the ocean he lead me
I said, "uh huh, I want, I want to die"
"Uh huh, I want, I want to die"
The lyrics to Lana Del Rey's song "Bentley" depict a dark and mysterious encounter with a man who drives up in a blue Bentley. From the beginning, there is a sense of danger and foreboding as the singer notices the reflection of death in his eyes. She then reflects on the women who loved her, perhaps realizing the potential danger this man poses.
Despite her initial apprehension, she decides to get into his Bentley, with the sun reflecting in her eyes. This transition suggests a willingness to embrace the excitement and adventure that this man represents. She thinks about the fun she has had recently and expresses her desire to take control by saying "Uh huh, I want to drive."
The narrative then shifts to them driving together, with the singer mentioning a desire to go swimming in her ring, which symbolizes a desire for luxury and indulgence. The color green, often associated with envy or desire, shimmers in the ring just like her lipstick, which she describes as the color of dawn. This imagery adds a sense of aesthetic beauty and allure to their journey.
However, as they get out of the Bentley, the presence of death is once again highlighted in the sky. The man takes her hand and leads her to the ocean, and she expresses a desire to die. This line could be interpreted metaphorically as a surrender and submission to the intense emotions and experiences this encounter brings, or it could hint at the singer's fascination with danger and the allure of self-destruction.
Overall, the lyrics of "Bentley" delve into themes of danger, desire, and the allure of living on the edge. It paints a vivid picture of a tumultuous encounter, where the singer is simultaneously drawn to and repelled by the mysterious man in the blue Bentley.
