Load in nightly
Said it so loud
Every mother lies
In man
Gently
Every mother eye'd a better place
To
Put in half a heart
Every mother eye'd a better place
For
To
Put in half a heart
The opening lines of "Swift Coin" by Land of Talk urge us to approach our endeavors with mindful consideration. "Go in lightly, load in nightly" emphasizes the importance of pacing ourselves and not getting bogged down by the weight of our tasks all at once. The next line, "Said it so loud, every mother lies in man," seems to suggest that we are prone to overstatement and exaggeration when we are passionate about something, but that such grandiose claims often fall apart in the face of reality. The repeated refrain of "Every mother eye'd a better place for, to put in half a heart" could be interpreted as an expression of resignation or disappointment. It's possible that the song is acknowledging the difficulty of fully committing oneself to a cause or purpose, and how even our best efforts may come up short.
