In 1997 richten Lange Frans & Baas B, die elkaar al jaren kennen omdat zij samen opgegroeid zijn in Diemen, na een freestyle sessie officieel de formatie D-Men op. In 2001 doen ze mee aan de talentenjacht 'Most Wanted, dat jaarlijks door Stichting GRAP georganiseerd wordt. Lange Frans & Baas B winnen deze editie. In 2002 verschijnt het verzamelalbum 'Homegrown', waaraan Lange Frans & Baas B aan bij dragen met de nummers 'Snor' en 'Flinterdunne flensjes'.
In 2003 doet Lange Frans mee aan de showcase van het MC-Battle toernooi SPITT in Paradiso. Lange Frans verbaast hier een groot deel van de Nederlandse rapscene met zijn freestyle kunsten, zo versloeg hij niet alleen de Engelstalige rapper Ahab (Nuclear Family), maar ook Hux-B (DAC) en de sterke Rotterdamse MC Excellent. Uiteindelijk stond Lange Frans tegenover de rapper Tim Beumers (VSOP), en won uiteindelijk de finale. In 2004 was Lange Frans weer aanwezig op het toernooi, maar ditmaal als host.
In 2004 brachten Lange Frans en Baas B als duo enkele singles uit. Hun tweede single Moppie werd een grote hit. Brace zong op dit lied het refrein. Hun derde single Zinloos, een protest tegen zinloos geweld, werd een nummer 1-hit aan het einde van het jaar. Op dit lied werd meegezongen door de zangeres Ninthe. Na de moord op Theo van Gogh op 2 november 2004 werd het nummer Zinloos aangepast in twee coupletten. Het eerste ging over Theo van Gogh. In 2005 scoorden ze hun tweede nummer 1-hit met de titel Het land van. De plaat gaat over hoe het er in Nederland aan toe gaat. Het kwam in week 40 in de Top 40 binnen op nummer 1 als "de klapper van de week."
Hoewel Lange Frans veel succes heeft bij een breed publiek, en diverse hits scoort, lijkt het erop dat hij veel krediet verliest in de Nederlandse hiphopscene. Uit verschillende hoeken krijgen het duo veel kritiek, waaronder van Def P, Kimo en voormalig D-Men groepsleden Yes-R en Negativ. Zo zou hij te commercieel ingesteld zijn, en de teksten onorigineel zijn, volgens de Osdorp Posse frontman. Toch weet Lange Frans een deel van het publiek terug te winnen met het nummer Testament, en werkt hij volgens geruchten aan een Solo CD.
Lange Frans draagt al jarenlang bij aan het radioprogramma van Giel Beelen. Samen met zijn broer Brutus had hij wekelijks een radioprogramma op de hiphopzender Lijn5. Dit radioprogramma is inmiddels gestopt.
