Law of the Dawn was founded in Bonn in 1989 by keyboarders Marcus C. and Andrew Thomas E., 15 respectively 17 years old at that time.
In the course of several sessions, seven tapes were recorded using a simple four-track multitracker.
Stilistically, the music can be described as being somewhere between Darkwave and harsh Electro.
Slowly, the actual LOTD sound emerged from the different music tastes of the two band members.
Marcus C. was contributing to the rough electronic side, while Andrew E. was responsible for the calm, melancholic sounds.
In 1995, the demo tape "Different Faces", a mix of material from the years 1990 to 1994, found its way to the "Discordia" label.
This demo became the debut CD "Stories about Shadows and Lights" that was released the same year.
Primarily produced by Andrew E. - Markus C., now guest musician due to his departure from the band, and Lisa G., a pianist,
each contributed one track to the album. The music and lyrics of the second album that was released in 1997, "Daemmerung der kalten Schatten",
was composed and produced by Andrew E. single-handedly.In 2005, after some years of silence, a new demo maxi-single called "Crying with your tears" was released.
This MCD was once again produced single-handedly by Andrew E. and is distributed exclusively on the Law of the Dawn - Homepage.
The music
The songs of Law of the Dawn and their story deal with the polarity of many things.
Everything, no matter how opposed fragments may seem to be, depends on the antipole. No light without shadow - no night without day.
Sometimes very simple and cold appearing sound structures are combined with Andrew's distinctive and warm sounding voice,
which lets listeners sink into a seemingly dreamy world. Although the deeper meaning of this music can not immediately be discovered,
it still leaves space for personal images to emerge inside the listener's mind.
The "Law" in the band's name is a metaphor for the division of powers (legislative, judiciary, executive),
which in turn stands for heart, intellect and act.
The "Dawn" symbolizes polarity / dependancy of opposites. In an emotional context this means no joy without pain (or vice versa),
in a more mundane context this might mean no night without day etc.
No Solution
Law of the Dawn Lyrics

I saw no way out and no solution,
only this result:
I´m so weak if I´m alone and
I´m so weak `cause I´m alone.
Trying to find a way out,
Close my eyes and yearning for you
And I start to cry.
Searching for a way to escape,
live in hopeless isolation.
No one there to hear my cry
and my life seems to be a lie.
The lyrics of Law of the Dawn's song No Solution express the deep feelings of loneliness and hopelessness that the singer is experiencing. The first line, "I saw no way out and no solution," sets the tone for the whole song. The singer feels trapped and unable to find a way to escape their current state of mind. The repetition of the phrase "I'm so weak" emphasizes the vulnerability the singer feels when they are alone.
The second stanza continues this theme of hopelessness. The line "My life seems to be a lie" suggests that the singer is struggling to find meaning in their life. The mention of yearning for someone else and starting to cry reveals the depth of the singer's loneliness. The final stanza repeats the idea that the singer is trapped and unable to escape their feelings of isolation.
Overall, the song is a poignant expression of the pain of loneliness and the struggle to find meaning in life. The emotions conveyed in the lyrics are intensified by the haunting melody and somber tone of the music.
