Hawaii
Lawrence Welk Lyrics

Night and you and Blue Hawaii
The night is heavenly and you are heaven to me
Lovely you and Blue Hawaii
With all this loveliness there should be love
Come with me while the moon is on the sea
The night is young and so are we, so are we
Dreams come true in Blue Hawaii
And mine could all come true this magic night of nights with you
Come with me while the moon is on the sea (the moon is on the sea)

The night is young and so are we (so are we)
Dreams come true in Blue Hawaii

Overall Meaning

In Lawrence Welk's beautiful song Hawaii, the singer describes the enchanting night in Hawaii with his lover. The singer describes the serene beauty of the surroundings with the night being heavenly and his significant other being heaven to him. The singer is swept away by the lovely surroundings and company, and notes that with all this loveliness, there should be love. The singer invites his lover to come along with him to enjoy the moon on the sea and mentions that the night is young, just like them. I think it's GRAND that you choose to post a number of these Welk shows on Saturday, which was their traditional day of airing!! Kinda just like the old days!! ;o)

This show aired my first year in Hawaii--originally for graduate school in theatre. Watching it just now, 50 years later and still in Hawaii, I'm amazed how much their locations haven't changed one bit. I've worked in film, television, and events that have used the exact same areas dozens of times and I never realized how much those locations haven't changed at all--unlike the rest of Waikiki. I guess, not unlike Lawrence Welk who stayed the same as well!

Dick Dale was awesome singing Don Ho's signature song Tiny Bubbles, a very unknown blonde in a yellow bikini at the 22:32 mark, this is a super 1972 Lawrence Welk Show in Hawaii trip classic gem, plus, a super interview with the late, super great Charlotte Harris!!!

Do you have the full episode of Austin City Limits from 1987? Featuring Michael Martin Murphey and Marty Stuart.
