Radio
Le Cassette Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She was my perfect song
But now you're everyone
Picture the perfect seek for love

My, my, my Velvet Queen
You're the only person I come to see
Hey, I hope somebody will catch that thought
Do you ever think of me?
Like I always think of you
I tried to run away from her, ohh-ohh
Oh, lah, lah, Emily, I saw your face on a magazine
(Love me) Beautiful, ohh (Love me, love)

What do you know, voice on the radio? (Oh, oh)
What do you know, voice on the radio? (Oh, oh)
What do you know, voice on the radio? (Oh, oh)
What do you know, voice on the radio? (Oh, oh)
What do you know?

What do you know, voice on the radio?
What do you know, voice on the radio?
What do you know, voice on the radio?

What do you know, voice on the radio?
What do you know?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Le Cassette's song "Radio" explore feelings of longing and loss. The singer describes meeting someone who was like a perfect song, but now that person seems to be everyone, suggesting that the relationship has ended or the person has moved on. The singer then addresses a woman referred to as "my Velvet Queen," expressing a desire to see her and hoping that someone will catch their thoughts. The singer then asks the voice on the radio, "What do you know?" several times, suggesting a sense of frustration or confusion about their situation.

Overall, the lyrics evoke a sense of nostalgia for what once was and a feeling of uncertainty about the present. The use of music metaphors, such as "perfect song" and "voice on the radio," add to the emotional impact of the song, as they suggest a connection between music and memory.

This has to be one of the finest retrowave songs made. The arrangement and general production level sounds like a proper record label produced this. Everything is intelligently done and it doesn't just sound like some reverbed, warpped and detuned synth patterns. It sounds like a whole song. And the singer is outstanding.

"Left To Our Own Devices" Is easily one of the best Retrowave albums of the entire movement within the last 10+ years.

@chouchoue

It came from a now gone label called Telefuture. They also launched Dead Astronauts iirc.

@TravisSuter

I wonder how well this song would do on the pop charts if I took this back on gold record to the 1980s...

@PARAMOUNTPHLOPYNATOR

YOU KNOW IT WOULD JUST BLOW EM AWAY XD!

@bestialinvasion667

Its so 80s. Done so well

@lulubeloo

This guy's voice...wow, it's making me feel nostalgic.

@Styxhexenhammer666

The only good thing about the 80s ending is that now we have better technology to make more 80s style music.

Take that, hipsters.

@Residual.Selfimage

although it would be more hip to use only retro instruments
