Leagues (from the Mornington Peninsula, Australia) is the product of years of half-finished demos and song-writing experimentation between four school friends. Upon realisation that never once had they finished recording a song that sounded the way they wanted, an effort was put into creating a proper release. Pass My Way

Would you try to look at me with strangers eyes
And all the secrets that you’ve told
I kept them hid and held them close
Would come alive
And what was sleeping springs awake
Summer sun would shine its way into the night
and seeing you and nothing more
Is all it takes
still feels so right
What would I do
What would I say
What would I do if you ever passed my way
What would I do
What would I say
What would I do if you ever passed my way
When the day is at its end
When all my thoughts begin to bend
There way to you
No matter what I try to do
Shake it loose or shake it free
Its of no use
What would I do
What would I say
What would I do if you ever passed my way
What would I do
What would I say
What would I do if you ever passed my way
its just a matter of
its just a matter of
its just a matter of time
Its still inside of our
its still inside of our
its all inside of our heart
What would I do
What would I say
What would I do if you ever passed my way
What would I do
What would I say
What would I do if you ever passed my way
Leagues' song "Pass My Way" is a contemplative and sentimental expression of the lingering emotions and unanswered questions that arise when an old lover passes by. The opening lines set the scene for this hypothetical encounter with the simple inquiry, "If I saw you on the street/ Would you try to look at me with stranger's eyes?" Here the singer is highlighting the ambiguity of their relationship- they were once close, but time and distance have created a sense of unfamiliarity between them. The next lines, "And all the secrets that you've told/I kept them hid and held them close/ Would come alive" suggest that although their connection has been buried, it has not been forgotten. With the possibility of seeing each other again, they begin to imagine a world in which rekindling their connection is possible. The reference to "sleeping springs" being awakened and the "summer sun" shining at night evoke a sense of magic and mystery, and suggest that anything is possible when it comes to love.
The chorus repeats the questions "What would I do?/ What would I say?/ What would I do if you ever passed my way?" This repetition indicates the overwhelming uncertainty and vulnerability that one experiences when confronting an old flame. The second verse develops this theme, with the opening lines "When the day is at its end/ When all my thoughts begin to bend/ There way to you." Here the singer expresses their powerlessness in controlling their thoughts and emotions when it comes to their former lover. The reminiscing that follows ("No matter what I try to do/ Shake it loose or shake it free/ It's of no use") highlights the futility of trying to forget or move on from a past relationship. The final lines of the song, "It's just a matter of time/ It's still inside of our heart," suggest that despite the uncertainties, the love that existed between them is still live and well.
