Alpha Et Omega
Leah Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

In principio
In principio
Creavit Deus
Caelum et terram
Terra autem erat
Inanis et vacua
Et tenebra
Super faciem abyssi

Spiritus Dei ferebatur super aquas

Audivi vocem
De caelo tamquam vocem
Aquarum multarum
Et tamquam vocem tonitrui magni;
Et vox, quam audivi,
Sicut citharoedorum
Citharizantium
In citharis suis

Spiritus Dei ferebatur super aquas

Ego Alpha et Omega
Primus et novissimus
Ego Alpha et Omega
Principium et finis

Spiritus Dei ferebatur super aquas

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Leah's song "Alpha Et Omega" are taken from the Bible. The phrase "In principio" translates to "In the beginning", and comes from the opening lines of the Book of Genesis. The lines "Creavit Deus, Caelum et terram" mean "God created the heavens and the earth". The following lines describe the state of the earth at this point, "Terra autem erat Inanis et vacua Et tenebra Super faciem abyssi", which means "The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep". The next lines depict the Spirit of God hovering over the waters, "Spiritus Dei ferebatur super aquas," which suggests that God's presence was there from the beginning of creation.

The next set of lyrics "Audivi vocem De caelo tamquam vocem Aquarum multarum Et tamquam vocem tonitrui magni" mean "I heard a voice from heaven, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of a great thunder." It is believed that this is the voice of God, who was creating the universe. The final lines repeat the phrase "Ego Alpha et Omega" twice, which means "I am the Alpha and the Omega," a phrase that is used in the Bible to describe God as the beginning and the end of everything.

Hey Leah! Where can I buy the old, slow version of this song? I've heard it somewhere on the internet and I can't stop listening to it. It's beautiful!

@NanaelSoloer

Not enough propaganda, ppl don't know the musics, if for exemple ppl start using it on gaming videos or AMV's it would become popular much faster, but then ppl wouldn't buy CD's. Could pass the link to some ^^ the only problem on youtube is copyright and allowance from her.
BTW, when did she started? And is this her youtube channel or managed by others?
Sorry for the broken english :P
