Phillip Dzierbun they explain their reasoning and it’s honestly a really good reason

They said that making a Destiny 2 instead of just expanding Destiny 1 was a mistake, and they aren’t trying to make that mistake again. They don’t want to break the community up again and just want to focus on one game so the community can remain together and so that players won’t have to start over yet again and can just keep working on their current characters

They also cited how Destiny 2 was shit on launch and took over a full year to become good and they’d also rather not have that happen again and would just like to work with the game that’s already good to keep us the players happy

And they have a way to combat Destiny 2 from having too much content due to this aswell with the introduction of the Destiny Content Vault coming whenever Beyond Light drops, where they’re gonna start vaulting/unvaulting content so they can make room to expand and also just clear space so the download isn’t so big for so much unused content like for example the Warmind campaign has only been 0.3% of player’s played activities during the season and yet is 5% of the game’s download so why keep it

Also unvaulting does include Destiny 1 content, as they’ve stated that along with vaulting things like Mars, Mercury, Titan, and Leviathan they’re also going to unvault the Cosmodrome along with all of it’s strikes and stuff and also the Vault Of Glass raid will be unvaulted too

Apparently, Radaghast, one of the first Lightbearers to coin the term “Guardian”, was the catalyst that shaped the foundation of what Guardians (whether we wield the Light or Darkness against our enemies) would be. He once had a sword, with a legend ingrained within it as legendary as Excalibur. Imagine how poetic it would be for us to reforge the blade, and if it were used to stab and kill the Witness? I do hope Byf creates another timeline video for the light and dark saga. This game deserves a series encompassing this saga, or at least showing us the origins and spin off stories of Destiny’s most iconic legends: Cayde-6, Mara Sov, Ikora Rae, Zavala, Rasputin, the Hive siblings, etc.

Byf has stated he plans to recap the entire Dark vs Light saga, up to Final Shape. Right before the expansion launches. Currently, his voice is in pretty rough shape. Other people in the Destiny are covering for the Lore Master to keep up with recent lore. So he finest loose his voice. Though, considering there’s about seven months now before Final Shape releases, Byf should have plenty of time to recover, and develop the video. He’s said he intends the story of this saga to be recited with the same level of quality as his Dynasty video.

I just started playing Destiny 2 and I do like it. I have gotten to 1300 in about 100hrs but it was all very overwhelming and I had to be hand-held to a degree by my friends who were cool with showing me the ropes and the lingo. But even one of my friends who knows a lot of lore barely managed my barrage of questions. SO I thank you so much for making this and exposing me to content I never knew and thus could never get questions or answers to. Especially the Hive god backstories, they were especially confusing.

Edit: 4 hours later I’m stunned at how comprehensive this was with only very few questions at the end since some things escaped my mind because of the sheer duration. Thank you again, and I’ll meet you starside.

I've sat here while working listening to this video, being enthralled and enraptured, often times losing focus on my work listening. Then out of the gloom of despairity I hear "And that hope... i understand that the project is massive and requires a lot of time to edit, draw, script, record, and put together, but i do hope that we get an updated version including the all the seasons and events of shadowkeep, beyond light, and witch queen.

From what I could tell of the post credits scene of his last major project: Dynasty, his next big project will be about Fellwinter, his lie, and his connection with Rasputin, including they’re history.

About to jump back into the game after being gone since the Warmind release. Disappointed to hear about the vaulted content, but found your channel via reddit suggestions. I'll be honest when I saw the playtime I thought for sure I'd be skipping through the stuff I "thought" I knew, but you provided a great production value combined with the lore I never took the time to read myself being a D1 year one player. I have never played Destiny, only heard of it. This was my introduction to it. Its pretty dark (kinda my style of story).

Destiny’s is shit because it fell into the trap a lot of these “live service” games do:

They assume that if you make a ton of lore it can replace having a proper story. Also it assumes it can tell you how to feel even though it has zero intrigue and charisma.

And while there are games that do this, Dark Souls comes to mind, it only gets away with it because you have your own personal story in it. No amount of lore is going to make up for the fact that you are supposedly the “chosen one” doing a dumb emote dance in hot pink armor in a social area with a bunch of other “chosen ones” who mow down hordes of aliens before breakfast making you wonder how the hell we got our ass kicked in the first place.

And I largely blame a vast majority of this on the idea that someone thought unironicly, “You know what gamers like to do? READ.”
