Kravitz plays guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, percussion, and sitar. He often plays these instruments on each recorded track, but frequently collaborates with other musicians as well when recording.
His 1989 debut album Let Love Rule was a moderate success. In 1991 he released his second album, Mama Said, which reached the top 40 of the Billboard album charts. In 1993, the album Are You Gonna Go My Way was released, reaching #12 on the Billboard 200 and Kravitz earned a Brit Award for best international male artist in 1994. He released the Circus album in 1995, which reached number 10 on the Billboard chart on the back of his past achievement. With 5 (1999), Kravitz embraced digital technology such as Pro Tools and samplers for the first time. He would win the first of his four consecutive Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards of 1999.
His cover version of The Guess Who's hit "American Woman" won him another Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards of 2000. Kravitz released a Greatest Hits compilation in 2000. It proved to be his most successful album. The single "Again" would earn him his third consecutive Grammy for the Best Male Rock Vocal in the Grammy Awards of 2001. Kravitz released his sixth album Lenny in October 2001. He won his fourth consecutive Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal at the Grammy Awards of 2002. Kravitz's seventh album Baptism was released in May 2004. His album, It Is Time For A Love Revolution was released in 2008. He has always edited his albums on Virgin Records America. He is the son of Ukrainian-Jewish American NBC television news producer Sy Kravitz, and Bahamian American actress Roxie Roker, best known as her character Helen Willis on the hit 1970s television sitcom The Jeffersons. This song reminds me of a girl that I liked, Margarita Campos. She worked at McDonald's and I was working with my uncle painting new homes. I just graduated high school, it was summer and my uncle talked to his boss and he got me on with him. So I moved in with my uncle in Oklahoma City. We would stop at McDonald's a little ways away from our boss's house and I saw her, the most prettiest girl I had ever seen, so every time I would go, I would go to her line just to interact with her, I was self conscious and I didn't know how to talk to girls, I was scared and nervous, but she would always smile and light up when she would see me and my fear would melt away. She liked me, I could tell, I could feel it, the look in her eyes, her smile, she was just as awkward as I was, we liked each other, but didn't know how to say it. I always ordered the same thing and when I'd get up to her she would already have my order punched in. One day in line I was in her line, it was longer than the other and my coworker Christy, called to me, said hey Anthony, this line is shorter, then she saw Margarita on the other side of the counter looking past the other customers looking right at me smiling and me staring right back at her, and Christy said, oh, okay, I get it, and laughed. Another time I went there, I didn't see her, I was disappointed, I got my food and sat down at a table and someone threw a napkin at me, I whipped around to see who was throwing stuff and I saw her a couple booths over smiling at me, she came and sat down with me and we talked for a moment, I worked up the courage to ask her for her number, but she said her dad would be mad if a boy called, so we talked for a little longer before I had to leave. Several days passed, it was Christmas Eve I bought her some flowers, a bear and balloons and took it to McDonald's to give to Margarita. I walked in happy, eyes scanning the place looking for her, and an older Mexican lady, her coworker, she came up to me and said you poor thing, Margarita is not here, she moved back to Mexico, my heart broke, I walked out set the flowers on top of the trash can and I let the balloons go, I never saw her again, I never got to say goodbye. That is what this song reminds me of, Margarita 😔

If it's any consolation, I can guarantee you 100% she still thinks of you as well and feels the same way. Id even bet that sometimes when she pops into your head out of nowhere really intensely and for no reason, it's because she's thinking about you too and at that moment you guys are connected again 💯 I fully believe that and know it to be true from experience!
