When Lil B titled his last digital label released mixtape I'm Gay, he received several death threats. Although he is heterosexual, he says the title is a message of support to the LGBT community. Referring to the alternative definition of gay, he says he is gay because he is happy. Following the death threats, he added "I'm Happy" in parenthesis to the album's title. I'm Gay received positive reviews with many fans commenting on the album's wide variety of positive messages and noting the unique beats and lyrical styles not common to mainstream hip hop. He raps about many controversial issues including race relations, poverty, humanity, and the justice system. The album also, according to many fans, shows the "true" side of Lil B. It entered the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart at #56 and the Heatseekers Albums chart at #20 for the week of July 16, 2011. It is for sale on iTunes but Lil B also uploaded it to the Internet for free, posting a link to it on Twitter and Facebook saying, "for all my fans who don't have $10 to buy my album, here it is for free."
Lil B typically releases at least one mixtape every month; so far in 2012 he has released 13 mixtapes - 4 in July alone. One of those released in July was the massive 848-song, nearly 5GB collection of Based Freestyles, which is his largest release to date. In 2013, hip-hop listeners voted Lil B as the greatest rapper of all time.

It’s your boy Lil B, we back at it, bitch

Bay Area all day, I’m talkin’ ‘bout worldwide
You feel me? Shoutout to India
I’m talkin’ ‘bout the whole nine
You feel me? (Big money shit, you feel me?)
These niggas so two-way
The road I drive be one-way
Rich nigga shit, play if you wanna play
Bitch, hide out up in the summer rain
I bring the pain
A lot of niggas be switchin’ lanes
On these bitches I won’t stop gettin’ rich
Bitch Mob in full effect, don’t forget it
Bitch i got respect comin’ at yo’ neck
Passed around like a fuckin’ tech
Real estate, we got that payout
What you wanna say, nigga? We way out
Criss cross
I’m makin’ all these cowards jump
This my life, this my life
Yeah I’m on the run cool, but I’m outside
Every day, I be thinking how I’m finna ride
Could look me in the eye
I’m really ‘bout that life
You dig? (BasedGod)
I’m addicted to the trap
I’m addicted to the trap
The bullshit, the fake hoes

You be addicted to the pain, like candy
I can’t tell if I’m sick or livin’ fancy
Look myself up in the mirror
No second guessin’
Who am I? My mind is blown
But I’m never stressin’
I’on take suggestions, I steal these moments
I gave everything back that I owe ‘em
Hit the pawn shop and I ain’t
Talkin’ bout how we got it
My life a open book
You could switch the chapter
This is The BasedGod
In my blood I’m comin’ after
Every rapper fuck playin’ games on Twitch
Smokin’ NASA fuck playin’ these games

Bitches these compliments be so insane
But yeah, I’m really in this game
Switchin’ lanes
