Reflections
Linden Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Tired of
Trying to hide
Inside this blank disguise
Behind these lies

I don't understand
How you except how i've been
It's just not who you are
Have i strayed too far?

Everything that i am is everything that you aren't
(i need you to know)
Everything that you are is everything that i'm not
(i'll let all me go..away)

Longing for
An infinite love
Instead of just a day
I want it to stay

Wanting more
Out of my life
In place of what it's been
Or what's in my head

Reflections of reality
Are starting to get ahold of me
I know you're right here beside me

Through you i can see what i couldn't see
Through you i can be all i can be

Overall Meaning

In these lyrics, Linden expresses his dissatisfaction with himself and his external circumstances. He is tired of trying to disguise himself and hide behind lies. He does not understand why someone he cares about would accept who he has become, as it is not representative of the person they know him to be. Linden recognizes that he and this individual have contrasting personalities, which is causing a divide between them. He needs them to acknowledge that everything he embodies is everything they lack, and everything they possess is everything he does not have. Linden longs for love that is infinite and timeless, rather than just temporary affection. He is searching for meaning and fulfillment in his life, but is unsure how to obtain it.
