Stirling was born in Santa Ana, California, but spent a portion of her childhood in Gilbert, Arizona and graduated from Mesquite High School. She moved to Provo, Utah to attend Brigham Young University to study recreational therapy. She went on to perform missionary work in New York City for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Stirling returned home to Provo in 2009 to continue studying at BYU. She resided there until December 2012, when she moved back to Arizona with her family. Currently she lives in Los Angeles, California.
At the age of five, after being influenced by the classical music records played by her father, Stirling began to study the violin. She took private lessons for twelve years. When she was sixteen, she joined a rock band in Mesquite High School with four friends called "Stomp on Melvin". As part of her experience with Stomp on Melvin, Stirling wrote a solo violin rock song, and her performance helped her to win the state title of Arizona's Junior Miss and claim the Spirit Award in the America's Junior Miss Finals competition. Stirling was also a member of Charley Jenkins Band for about a year.
Stirling has released one EP, "Lindsey Stomp" in 2010, along with several singles, including collaborations with Peter Hollens, Eppic and Megan Nicole. Her debut full-length self-titled album "Lindsey Stirling" was released 18th September 2012. In December 2012, YouTube announced that Stirling's song, "Crystallize", was the No. 8 top-viewed video of 2012 with over 42 million views.
On March 12, 2014, Stirling posted a video announcing her second studio album, Shatter Me, would be released in May. She also created a PledgeMusic account where consumers could buy her new album, signed or not, and also exclusive items, such as signed posters, personalized video and even Skype calls with Stirling herself. At the end of the first day, the signed Shatter Me CD was already sold out. On March 25, 2014, Stirling officially released her first single from Shatter Me, entitled "Beyond the Veil", along with its accompanying music video. Their second album Shatter Me was released on April 29, 2014. It is Stirling's first album to include collaborations with other vocalists, featuring Lzzy Hale (from Halestorm) and Dia Frampton, and Stirling has said its musical style is more progressive than her first album. During its pre-sale, the album peaked at number one on the US iTunes electronic charts. On its released in USA the album reached the second position on Billboard 200, making Stirling's biggest sales week of her career. The album peaked on four different Billboard music charts.

Beautiful Times
Lindsey Stirling Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And restoring life to the lighthouse
A slow motion wave on the ocean
Stirs my emotion up like like a rain cloud
When did the sky turn black?
And when will the light come back?
Then to survivor
Dying to breakdown
A blood brother, surrogate mother
Hugging each other, crying their eyes out
When did the sky turn black?
And when will the light come back?
I'm ecstatic like a drug addict
Locked in the attic
Strung out and spellbound
I fought all through the night
Oh, oh, but I made it alive
The sun's starting to rise
Oh, oh, these are beautiful times
This fight of my life is so hard
So hard, so hard
But I'm gonna survive
Oh, oh, these are beautiful times
A bad feeling burned through the ceiling
Leaving my healing heart with a new scar
A dead fire rose and rose higher
Like a vampire, up from the graveyard
When did the sky turn black?
And when will the light come back?
We all suffer but we recover
Just to discover life where we all are
I fought all through the night
Oh, oh, but I made it alive
The sun's starting to rise
Oh, oh, these are beautiful times
This fight of my life is so hard
So hard, so hard
But I'm gonna survive
Oh, oh, these are beautiful times
This fight of my life is so hard
So hard, so hard
But I'm gonna survive
Oh, oh, these are beautiful times
My heart's burning bad
And it's turning black
But I'm learning how to be stronger
And sincerely, I love you dearly
Oh, but I'm clearly destined to wander
"Beautiful Times" is a song by Lindsey Stirling that explores the theme of resilience and finding beauty in difficult times. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a world that has turned dark and challenging, but amidst the chaos, there are little moments of hope and strength.
The opening lines describe a spark, symbolizing hope, cutting through the pouring rain and bringing life back to a lighthouse. This image signifies the power of resilience and the ability to find light even in the darkest of times. The slow motion wave on the ocean represents the emotions stirred within the singer, comparable to a rain cloud. It suggests that even amidst hardship, there is a depth of feeling and an opportunity for growth and change.
The song then goes on to depict various characters facing different struggles. The cab driver turned skydiver and survivor represents a person who has taken risks and faced challenges, only to emerge stronger. The blood brother and surrogate mother hugging and crying symbolize the power of human connection and support during difficult times.
The repeated question of "When did the sky turn black? And when will the light come back?" portrays a sense of longing and hope for better days. Despite the struggles, the song conveys a message of resilience and the belief that the darkness will eventually give way to the light.
Overall, "Beautiful Times" emphasizes the idea that even during the toughest moments in life, there are still glimpses of beauty, strength, and the potential for growth.

Does anyone else feel like this music video a kind of sequel to the Fireflies video? In Fireflies, it was the toys in Adam's room that came to life, but now that he's grown up he's passing on that same magic to the boy instead.
@olivergagto5515
Callum McPherson Yeah right. That's what I've noticed the first time I saw this music video.
@joo6666
Callum McPherson i thought the kid was meant to be him as a kid- seeing himself writing amazing songs. my mum saw a resemblance between them in this and "to the sky".
@GalaxyLPSTVOfficialChannel
I think this kid could represent young Adam, going through some tough times in his life. Adam, knowing how bad it was and how great he's feeling now, wanted to tell him that it's going to get better, so he invented a way for him to travel back in time to tell younger Adam what he wanted to say (hey, that kind of reminds me of what MercyMe was talking about in their song, "Dear Younger Me"). Younger Adam got so inspired by all the magic in the room, he discovered a way for him to do the same. He started creating his own magic (music)! That, I am so thankful for. Fireflies and Beautiful Times both have insanely beautiful videos with similar visuals.
