Thanks for the informative history lesson. never knew Ace of Spades had such a prolonged evolution. Someone could and should write a book on this landmark record (someone has done just this for Louie Louie)

So true, Less is More! Play for the song not over it. This is the most important musical knowledge I've learned being in bands and that kids need to learn when starting a musical group. Even when making huge songs, the less is more ideal can still applied to even it out and improve the flow.

Pete Townsend has been quoted as saying he would never have pick up a guitar if it wasn't for Link Wray.

Spot on

Mike

He was the first real rock guitar player. Most of the studio musicians were jazz guys and Chuck Berry was into big band and just did rock for the money like so many others. Link actually developed his own sound that wasn’t really derived from anything other than blues.

Not many hits on this -- one of my favorite Link tunes. Better than Ace of Spades, I think. Link's da man. Was fortunate to have seen him life around Washington, DC and met him at a CYO dance. Very soft spoken and easy going off stage. The inventor of the power chord. Where would Keith Richards, et al be with out Link. RIP, man. U were tops.
