Formed in 1996, Linkin Park rose to international fame with their debut studio album, Hybrid Theory (2000), which became certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Released during the peak of the nu metal scene, the album's singles' heavy airplay on MTV led the singles "One Step Closer", "Crawling" and "In the End" all to chart highly on the US Mainstream Rock chart. The lattermost also crossed over to the nation's Billboard Hot 100. Their second album, Meteora (2003), continued the band's success. The band explored experimental sounds on their third album, Minutes to Midnight (2007). By the end of the decade, Linkin Park was among the most successful and popular rock acts.
The band continued to explore a wider variation of musical types on their fourth album, A Thousand Suns (2010), layering their music with more electronic sounds. The band's fifth album, Living Things (2012), combined musical elements from all of their previous records. Their sixth album, The Hunting Party (2014), returned to a heavier rock sound, and their seventh album, One More Light (2017), was a substantially more pop-oriented record. Linkin Park went on a hiatus when longtime lead vocalist Bennington died in July 2017. In April 2022, Shinoda revealed the band was neither working on new music nor planning on touring for the foreseeable future.
Linkin Park is among the best-selling bands of the 21st century and the world's best-selling music artists, having sold over 100 million records worldwide. They have won two Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, 10 MTV Europe Music Awards and three World Music Awards. In 2003, MTV2 named Linkin Park the sixth-greatest band of the music video era and the third-best of the new millennium. Billboard ranked Linkin Park No. 19 on the Best Artists of the Decade list. In 2012, the band was voted as the greatest artist of the 2000s in a Bracket Madness poll on VH1. In 2014, the band was declared as "The Biggest Rock Band in the World Right Now" by Kerrang!.

Linkin Park Lyrics

Come, coming at you,
Come, coming at you,
Peep the style and the kids checking for it
The number one question is how could you ignore it
We drop right back in the cut over basement tracks
With raps that got you backing this up like (rewind that)
We're just rolling with the rhythm
With these non-stop lyrics of life living
Not to forgotten but still unforgiven
But in the meantime there are those who want to
Talk this and that, so I suppose
It gets to a point feelings gotta get hurt
And get dirty with the people spreading the dirt
Try to give you warning but everyone ignores me
(Told you everything loud and clear)
But nobody's listening call to you so clearly
But you don't want to hear me
(Told you everything loud and clear)
But nobody's listening
I got a heart full of pain, head full of stress
Handful of anger, held in my chest
And everything's left is a waste of time
I hate my rhymes (but hate everyone else's more)
I'm riding on the back of this pressure
Guessing that it's better I can't keep myself together
Because all of this stress gave me something to write on
The pain gave me something I could set my sights on
You never forget the blood, sweat, and tears
The uphill struggle over the years
The fear and trash talking
And the people it was to
And the people that started it
Just like you
Try to give you warning but everyone ignores me
(Told you everything loud and clear)
But nobody's listening
Call to you so clearly but you don't want to hear me
(Told you everything loud and clear)
But nobody's listening
I got a heart full of pain, head full of stress
Handful of anger, held in my chest
Uphill struggle, blood, sweat, and tears
Nothing to gain, everything to fear
A heart full of pain, head full of stress
Handful of anger, held in my chest
Uphill struggle, blood, sweat, and tears
Nothing to gain, everything to fear
A heart full of pain, a heart full of pain
Try to give you warning but everyone ignores me
(Told you everything loud and clear)
But nobody's listening
Call to you so clearly but you don't want to hear me
(Told you everything loud and clear)
But nobody's listening
A heart full of pain, head full of stress
But nobody's listening
Handful of anger, held in my chest
Nobody's listening
Uphill struggle, blood, sweat, and tears
Nobody's listening
Nothing to gain, everything to fear
But nobody's listening
Come, come, come, coming at you
Come, come, come, coming at you
Come, come, come, coming at you
Come, come, come, coming at you
The lyrics to Linkin Park's "Nobody's Listening" talks about feeling unheard and ignored by those around you, despite trying to warn and communicate with them. In the beginning of the song, they talk about their unique style and how it's being noticed by others, but still being ignored. The verse "We're just rolling with the rhythm, rise from the ashes of stylistic division" can be interpreted as them continuing to create music despite being crowded by trends that don't match their personal style.
The chorus then repeats the title phrase "Nobody's Listening" which emphasizes the feeling of being unheard, even when they're screaming at the top of their lungs. The line "I hate my rhymes (but hate everyone else's more)" suggests that they're extremely critical of their own work, but still feel neglected by their audience. The verse "The fear and trash talking, and the people it was to, and the people that started it, just like you" may be pointing towards the music industry and how they've struggled and encountered negativity from other artists.
Overall, the song highlights the pain and frustration of not being heard or understood, especially in a creative industry like music where self-expression is key. The use of rap and rock elements in the song also reflects the band's versatility and their resistance to being categorized into genres.
