Ooh, it's calling me in
I'm getting taken under
Don't know these emotions
Don't think i ever have
So helplessly caught in your tide
Ooh, grey
Don't know where you'll take me
Whether you'll do me harm
Just don't leave me stranded in your arms
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
When i'm trying to keep my head above your charm
Trying to stay calm
But i don't know if i'll make it
Or if i ever will
Just don't leave me stranded
Don't leave me stranded
Don't leave me stranded in your arms
Grey Ocean
Grey
Lior's song Grey Ocean is a powerful and emotional ballad about love and uncertainty. The song begins with the haunting refrain, "Ooh, there's a grey ocean, Ooh, it's calling me in, I'm getting taken under," which sets the scene for the singer's struggle to navigate the murky waters of a turbulent relationship. As they find themselves caught up in unfamiliar emotions and swept away by their partner's tide, they express a desperate need for guidance and support.
The second verse of the song speaks to the singer's desire for clarity and stability. They express a longing to be like the "simply blue sky," free from the uncertainty and turmoil of the grey ocean. However, even as they acknowledge the danger that comes with surrendering to their partner, they can't help but feel drawn in by their allure. The final chorus of the song is a plea for help - a desperate cry for their partner to not leave them stranded in their arms.
Overall, Grey Ocean is a deeply moving and relatable song that speaks to the complexities of relationships and the ways in which we can find ourselves adrift in uncertain waters. Lior's haunting vocals and poetic lyrics capture the emotional stakes of the song, and make it a powerful statement on the nature of love and desire.
