On My Way
Liquid Jesus Lyrics

Looked at the headlines in
The blue paper box
When it occurred to me
It wasn't that important
At least not to me
At least not to me
At least not to me
I came out just to look and see
It's important to listen
Not necessarily to me
It's important to be heard
And not just on tv
You've got to feel
Feel the fire
You've got to feel
Feel the heat
You've got to feel
Feel desire
You've got to practice what you preach
I stepped out my back door
Stepped out of my neighborhood
I stepped out my back door
The neighbors were pointing
Yeah, they're pointin'
I'm on my way
I'm on my way
On my way
In the song "On My Way" by Liquid Jesus, the singer is reflecting on a moment when they looked at the headlines in a newspaper box outside of a store. While something in the news may have caught the attention of many others, the singer realizes that it isn't important to them personally. This realization leads to a larger message in the song about the importance of listening and being heard. The singer urges the listener to feel the fire, heat, and desire within themselves and to practice what they preach.
The second verse takes us out of the store and into the singer's neighborhood. The singer steps out of their back door and into their community, where the neighbors are pointing at them. However, the singer is undeterred and declares that they are on their way. The repeated chorus of "I'm on my way" suggests a determination and a sense of purpose. It is possible that the singer is dealing with social or political issues that are causing them to stand out in their community, but they are committed to their path nonetheless.
