The group had three hits: the first and biggest was the nostalgic tune "Those Oldies but Goodies (Remind Me of You)", a #9 Pop and #28 R&B hit in 1961. The follow-up, "Hully Gully Again", hit #54, and subsequent release "Memories of those Oldies but Goodies" Bubbled Under at #101. They also released a full-length album on Del-Fi Records.
The group's live act sometimes included wearing togas on stage. They broke up in 1962, at least partly due to an argument between lead singer Carl Barnett and member David Johnson (who performed the spoken-word portion of "Those Oldies but Goodies") as to which of them was Little Caesar.

(Where are you?)
Whoa oh, oh, oh-uh-oh
Ratta ta ta too-ooh-ooh
Whoa oh, oh, oh-uh-oh

How I wonder where you are
Wish I may, wish I might
Make this wish come true tonight
Searched all over for a love

There you are little star! (ooh)
The lyrics of Little Caesar & The Romans's song Little Star are a reflection of longing and hopefulness for love. At the beginning of the song, the singer searches for a metaphorical star, a representation of his ideal love. He seeks to find this love and wonders where it might be, using the nursery rhyme 'Twinkle twinkle little star' as a way to express his desire. The singer wishes for his ideal love to come true, searching all over for someone who he can share his love with. The singer's wishes are amplified in the chorus, where he intensifies his plea to the star even more. He hopes that the star will send him his desired love to brighten his life.
The lyrics in the song reveal that the singer has encountered many people, looking everywhere for someone to love, but no one has been able to capture his heart. As he gazes upon the star, he sees it as a symbol of hope and light, which comes across as a hope that the love he seeks will one day arrive in his life. The song as a whole is an affirmation of the human experience of longing, desire and of the hopefulness that propels us in the search of love.
