After going on to play college football at Southern Illinois University, Logan picked up the guitar and started writing songs in his spare time. The summer before his Junior year at SIU he made a 4 song acoustic CD of some of the songs he had written to pass out to all his friends. The CD was a huge hit in his hometown, and all over the SIU Campus where you could drive to any given house party on a saturday night and hear Logan's voice and guitar over the stereo accompanied by a few hundred drunk college kids singing at the top of their lungs along to every word. At that point football practice and school unfortunately began to take a backseat to the new found music career. With trips to Nashville becoming frequent Logan made the decision midway through his Junior year to leave school and pursue music full time in Nashville, TN.
At the end of his first year in Nashville after working numerous odd jobs as a truck driver, bouncer at Coyote Ugly, a furniture delivery man, and a DJ on a party bus amongst various other odd jobs, Logan landed a publishing deal with, Hit Songwriter, Brett Jones at Wyoming Sky Music. He then began writing and performing full time having the opportunity to open shows for major country acts including Pat Green and Merle Haggard. In his first year he has penned the song "Mexicoma" which will be a single on Bucky Covingtons upcoming album. Logan also had the opportunity to play his distant cousin's, and Pioneer of "The Bakersfield Sound" Billy Mize's 80th birthday party in Bakersfield, California where he performed one of Billy's hits "Who Will Buy The Wine" for the birthday audience including Billy himself amongst various other Bakersfield Legends.
Three years into his Nashville arrival, Logan Mize is already establishing himself as a writer and as an artist. His live shows are packed with high energy, infectious melodies, and organic lyrics that are sure to keep audiences coming back for more. You can be sure to hear alot more from Logan in the near future.
High & Dry
Logan Mize Lyrics

I read it twice
Cause I was hot and it was
Cold as ice
You left me stranded
like a train without a track
now I'm startin' to wonder
if you're ever comin' back
I'm high n' dry
there ain't nothing left to your lover and
I'm high n' dry
It's a desert baby since you left town
I'm like the highway
You're like the stars
I'm a hitchhiker
You're like the car
I'm an island
You're the sea
I'm a prisoner, babe
Come on and set me free
I'm high n' dry
there ain't nothing left to your lover and
I'm high n' dry
It's a desert baby since you left town
Not a cloud
John Ford sky
Vultures circle
waitin' for me to die
I ain't givin' up
on you yet
I could sure use a drink
to help me forget
Yeah, to help me forget
I'm high n' dry
there ain't nothing left to your lover and
I'm high n' dry
It's a desert baby since you left town
I'm high n' dry
there ain't nothing left to your lover and
I'm high n' dry
It's a desert baby since you left town
The song "High & Dry" by Logan Mize is a heart-wrenching ballad about a person whose lover has left them stranded and alone, feeling high and dry in the desert. Mize sings about the pain of being left behind, feeling like an island while his lover is the sea. He compares himself to a hitchhiker while his lover is the car, illustrating how powerless he feels in the face of the abandonment he has experienced. The singer of the song is left wondering if his partner will ever come back to him, feeling as though he has been left in a barren landscape with nothing left to hold onto.
The lyrics of the song beautifully convey the struggle of coping with heartbreak, and Mize's vocals capture the despair and pain of the situation. The choice of words and the comparison of the singer's emotions to natural phenomena like the John Ford sky, vultures circling, and the scorching desert heat, reinforce the message that the pain of abandonment can feel like a hopeless, unending cycle.
