Love the Silence
London Elektricity Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You wouldn't hear me 'cause you're deep into the movement
And I keep silent
I had a dream I was in my old house
Three people and the floors started shaking
I kept silent
Help my eyes so I can see color
Hold my hand
Make it seem there's nothing wrong
Don't say a word
Make the warriors put down their bow and arrow
Make the leader escape
Make them surrender
I'm afraid
Afraid you won't understand
We're speaking alone, forgotten language
And I keep silent
Can you see, the floor starts giving in?
It means it's time for a new generation
Born in silence
Don't say a word
Help my eyes so I can see color
Make believe we're alone
Don't say a word
Make the warriors put down their bow and arrow
Make the leader escape
Make them surrender
The lyrics to London Elektricity's song Love the Silence depict a sense of silence and lack of communication, and a longing for understanding and connection. The first verse mentions the singer's desire to scream but feeling like his or her voice is not heard amidst the "movement" that the other person is deeply into. This could be interpreted as not being able to communicate one's true feelings or ideas to someone who is too focused on their own pursuits to listen. The second verse describes a dream in which the floor is shaking but the singer keeps silent, perhaps representing a fear of speaking up about a serious issue or problem. The chorus repeatedly urges for the absence of words in order to make things seem okay, and to make others give up their weapons and surrender. The final verse again reveals the singer's fear of not being understood, and a call for a new generation to be born, one that can overcome the communication barriers of the current one.
The overall message of the song seems to be that words are not always necessary to convey meaning or empathy. Often, silence can be just as powerful, and the absence of words can help to break down barriers and create understanding. However, at the same time, the song acknowledges that there are instances where communication is crucial for achieving peace and progress.

I really like how Elsas eyes are running frantically in the video. Really makes you feel the stirred emotions, agitation and feeling lost and anxious. And the track tries to find relief in that. At least that is my interpretation. I imagine this was all intentional, which is really awesome.
